Congress uses distorted map of India to express ‘solidarity’ with farmers

As the farmers’ protests continue to rage on, the opposition parties especially the Indian National Congress are looking to profit from the protests by attempting to corner the Modi government. Now it’s a different thing that the farm laws were two decades in working with multiple parties including the INC promising the same reforms in the past which have finally become a reality in the latest farm laws. However, in their zeal to take potshots at the Modi government, INC seems to have shot itself in the foot as it shared a distorted map of India in its tweet supporting the farmers.

The Twitter handle of the Assam Congress landed in a soup after in a tweet attacking PM Modi over the farm bills, the handle shared a distorted map of India which didn’t include Ladakh. While in its tweet Congress claims that, “Modi is with Ambani’s”, the same tweet had a distorted map of India which would have made Pakistan and China elated as the map didn’t include the Union Territory of Ladakh as a part of India.

Unsurprisingly, the tweet came under fire and instead of apologising, the INC deleted its tweet.

However, this is not the first time and certainly, not the last time when the party handles or its leaders have shared distorted maps of India with Shashi Tharoor being a habitual offender.

There is little doubt that the Congress has spared no stone unturned to mislead the farmers and its problematic participation in these protests which have a Khalistani link is well known.

It is a travesty that the protests have been hijacked by pro-Khalistani elements as in one of the videos from the protests, one of the demonstrators can be seen threatening PM Modi with dire consequences if an immediate solution is not reached at in the upcoming meeting between the farmers and the Centre on December 3 over the farm laws.

An alleged farmer is heard saying, “December 3 ko meeting hai, agar hal koi hua toh thik hai nahin toh…aap jaante nahin…hamare shaheed Udham Singh ne goro ko Canada me jake thoka…Indira thok di…Modi ki chhati mein…”(If no solution is reached at in the December 3 meeting, you don’t know, our shaheed Udham Singh shot the colonisers in Canada. Indira Gandhi was taken down. Similarly, in Modi’s chest…”).

In some other videos, the alleged farmers are heard wishing death upon Prime Minister Modi: “haye haye modi mar gaya, mar gaya bhai mar gaya.”As another instance in the video, the demonstrators shout, “Ikki dukki chakk deyange, dhaun te goda rakh deyange (Everyone will be knocked out, their necks will be under our feet).”

Two hours into the video, a protestor heaps praise on Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, while suggesting that PM Modi is the enemy of protesters. “Pakistan’s PM Imran Khan is our friend. Our enemy is sitting in Delhi,” the man is heard saying.

Questions must be asked to the INC and its party leaders who more often than not share distorted maps of India. How difficult it is to find the correct map of India? Or is the Congress and its leaders are knowingly sharing distorted maps Pakistan and China celebrate is a question that the party and its leaders must answer.
