The news of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its espionage agents infiltrating foreign nations and their big blue-chip companies had made alarming waves around the world recently. However, the pandora’s box of surprise hasn’t stopped giving it out yet. According to The Indian Express report, the nefarious CCP and its members have infiltrated the Indian consulate in Shanghai.
At least one CCP member was hired by the Indian consulate in Shanghai using the services of a Chinese state-owned recruitment agency. The said CCP member had served in the embassy for three years from mid-2014 to mid-2017. Furthermore, seven affiliates of the CCP also have an India connection. The dataset reveals that cumulatively, these seven branches have 91 party members.
The seven branches with an India connection are Shanghai Electric Power Plant Engineering Corporation’s India Project Branch Committee with 31 members, India Research Institute Joint Branch with 17 members, India Research Institute Management Branch with 13 members, City India Tenth Factory Branch with 11 members.
Further, 10 CCP members are linked to CCP Shanghai Urban Construction International Engineering Co., India Regional Centre Branch Committees, Committee of the CCP Shanghai Chilling India Branch has 7 members and New Delhi Sales Department Party Branch includes 3 CCP members, as per the Indian Express report.
Reported by TFIGlobalNews recently, close to 1.95 million registered CCP members have infiltrated defence firms, consulates, tech firms, automobile giants, banks, pharma majors, and media firms around the world. These CCP workers have been lobbying for China’s interests across the world by infiltrating consulates and political systems, not to mention corporates across a range of sectors. They would have been making China rich by either stealing the Intellectual Property of the Western world or by encouraging multinational corporates to choose China over other options in terms of trade and investment.
Some of the big names include US-based defence firm Boeing, the Netherlands-based aerospace company Airbus, automobile giants like Germany-based Volkswagen, London-based Jaguar and Rolls Royce, pharma giants- Pfizer and AstraZeneca, leading financial institutions and banks- Standard Chartered, HSBC and ANZ. The leak has also revealed that the Chinese Communist Party has infiltrated Australian, British and American Consulates in Shanghai.
And while all the 1.95 million CCP agents might not be involved in spying activities at Beijing’s behest, it defeats ordinary prudence to think that the loyal Communist workers would not be doing China’s bidding in the free world.
Think about it- this leak actually exposes a huge security breach. By successfully planting its officials in multinational companies and leading tech and defence firms, Beijing can actually step up its Intellectual Property (IP) theft campaign in the US and Europe. Global companies, which have been reportedly infiltrated, will now have to think of security mechanisms to weed out Chinese influence.
Reported previously by TFI in September, a Shenzen-based company Zhenhua Data Information Technology Co. Limited had been caught spying over 10,000 prominent citizens including President Ram NathKovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among others.
The entire endeavour can be termed as part of China’s ‘Hybrid-Warfare’ campaign as Zhenhua works in close proximity with the CCP, military, and security agencies.
China’s meteoric rise on the global map hasn’t been because of its highly inflated economy or the mirage of development it sells to the West, albeit, it has been the carefully crafted infiltrating/espionage tactics that have helped the Politburo to buy influence and rapidly climb the stairs of progress. If not for the 2 million-odd CCP foot soldiers making a living as moles in foreign nations, China would have been nowhere on the global map.
