At a time when the world is standing with France after ghastly terror attacks shook the nation, the Indian National Congress, remaining true to its characteristics instead of condemning the attacks, is now acting as a platform for Islamist radicals to voice their hatred against France and its President Emmanuel Macron. It seems that the Grand Old Party is increasingly tilting towards the ideology propagated by the Muslim League, as after one of its MLA carried out a massive protest against Macron in Bhopal, Congress has now demanded Telangana CM KCR to ban French products in the state – a demand propagated by the radical Islamists in Pakistan and Bangladesh.
In yet another protest carried out by the Indian National Congress against France and Macron, Telangana Congress minority cell chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail along with local Muslims demanded that Telangana CM K Chandrasekar Rao not only condemn Macron’s comments on Islam but also impose a ban on French products in the state.
The protest saw slogans against Macron while holding banners with the protesters setting ablaze his posters. Sohail claimed that Macron’s comments on Islam cannot be tolerated as he also chastised the Modi government for supporting Macron as he claimed termed it as a deliberate move to provoke the Indian Muslims.
“The Muslims will tolerate anyone who speaks against prophet Muhammed. We demand that India should not support anyone who hurts the the religious sentiments of any community,” quipped Sohail.
Further displaying his radical mindset, Sohail urged the wholesalers and retailers in Telangana especially in Hyderabad, to withdraw products manufactured in France with immediate effect, failing to do so would result in Muslims deciding to stop visiting their shops.
After the terror attacks, Macron has chosen not to be politically correct and has labelled Islam as a “religion in crisis” which has not gone down with Islamist radicals. Another radical, Congress MLA Arif Masood, organised and led a protest in support of Islamism, the kind which led to the beheading of Samuel Paty and others in France. The protest in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh witnessed the wholehearted participation of over two thousand Muslims, as they stormed the roads with religious, extremist and supremacist sloganeering. The protest, in essence, was organised to demonstrate the offence which Muslims had taken to the crackdown which French President Emmanuel Macron initiated recently in his country to deal with Islamists and terrorists.
On Twitter, the Congress MLA said that thousands of Muslims had assembled at Iqbal Maidan in Bhopal on Thursday to protest against the French President for speaking ill against Prophet Muhammad. It is important to note here that not once has Macron used even slightly offensive language when speaking about the prophet of Muslims.
At the protest, Arif Masood demanded that the Union government ask the Indian Ambassador in France to register a stern protest against the “anti-Muslim” stand of the Macron government. He accused Macron of supporting offensive cartoons of Prophet Muhammad and intentionally hurting the sentiments of Muslims around the world.
Unsurprisingly, party scion Rahul Gandhi is yet to show solidarity with either France or Macron and till date has not condemned the actions of its leaders, Arif Masood or Shaik Abdullah Sohail. The defining silence of the party reveals its positions vis-a-vis the terror attacks in France and its aftermath. One can understand Rahul Gandhi’s reluctance to condemn acts of radicalism both within and outside his party, as after embarrassingly losing from the safe seat of Amethi, Gandhi is the MP of Wayanad which has 45% Muslim population which the Prince fears to lose if he issues a statement against the fanatics. It seems that the the Muslim League-ification of INC is finally complete.
