Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has stirred up a hornets’ nest as for not officially celebrating the Telangana Liberation Day which the BJP believes is due to the pressure from AIMIM, a party friendly to the KCR-led Telangana Rashtra Samiti, However, this not the first time that KCR has gone out of his way to appease Muslims and Owaisi.
September 17 is celebrated as Telangana Liberation Day to celebrate the day when Nizam-ruled Hyderabad became a part of India in 1947. However, KCR chose to not officially celebrate the Telangana Liberation Day which would have rubbed his new ally, AIMIM the wrong way.
It is pertinent to note that as an MLA, KCR had publicly demanded to hold Telangana Liberation Day celebrations in the past but has now done on a complete U-turn perhaps due to the fear of Owaisi.
Commenting on the matter, BJP MLA T Raja Singh said, “As an MLA, KCR has demanded Liberation Day celebrations in the past. However now, just because of Owaisi’s fear, he is not speaking on it.”
Sir today i found a video in which our beloved CM Kcr taking about Hyderabad Liberation Day, so motivational before 2014, and so negligence after 2014,We people of Telangana are under The grt ruling of our CM, who tells grt lies to woo people…once speak about this in Assembly. pic.twitter.com/4pLP05p6yC

Earlier this month, in a shocking move, the Telangana government was mulling on giving judicial powers to Wakf Board which will make them equal to the courts of India.
During the Telangana Assembly session, Koppula Eshwar, Minister for Minority Welfare reassured the minority community that the KCR government will soon call for a meeting with all the stakeholders where apart from securing the Wakf boards’ properties, the issue of conferring judicial status to Wakf Board will also be considered by KCR.
Eshwar was answering a question which was unsurprisingly raised by hate monger and Asaduddin Owaisi’s brother, Akbaruddin Owaisi who was reassured that the Telangana government is working overtime to safeguard the properties of the Wakf Board.
At the same time, the Telangana government is also exploring legal recourses to fulfil its promise of providing 12 per cent reservation to Muslims in educational institutions and government jobs.
While the KCR government had passed the bill allowing 12 per cent reservations for Muslims on April 16, 2017, the quota fell out of the Supreme Court-mandated 50 per cent cap. The Telangana government subsequently forwarded the bill to the Centre urging it to clear the bill with the Centre categorically refusing the request as it stated that it cannot allow religion-based reservations.
The series of events clearly reveal the stranglehold Owaisi and his AIMIM enjoy over KCR and his government. It seems that KCR fears that he will lose the Muslim vote bank if he celebrates the end of an Islamic dictatorship and hence has decided not to celebrate Telangana Liberation Day.
