With each passing day, startling details continue to emerge in relation to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, which the Mumbai Police claims, was due to suicide. While those now facing the heat for their alleged involvement in the death of the late actor were having a rosy time as long as the case was being handled by Mumbai Police alone, the FIR filed in Patna by Sushant’s father changed much of the dynamics of the investigation. In his FIR, KK Singh, the late actor’s father had accused Rhea Chakraborty and her family of harassing his son, defrauding him and no less than abetting his suicide.
India Today has now reported that Rhea Chakraborty, the late actor’s girlfriend who has been accused of giving him wrong medication, called Sushant Singh Rajput 25 times in a matter of four days in January this year. This frantic call spree by Chakraborty took place when Sushant drove to Chandigarh between January 20-24, and was living with his sister there. Sushant had travelled out of Mumbai to Chandigarh as he was feeling ‘claustrophobic’, due to wrongful medication being administered to him.
Sushant Singh Rajput said so in a call for help to his family. In November 2019, the late actor made similar calls to his family, and had even booked his tickets for Chandigarh, the report says. However, Rhea Chakraborty pressurised him to stay back. In what comes as a startling revelation, however, India Today also reported that Sushant Singh Rajput had informed his family about Rhea Chakraborty conspiring to put him in a “mental hospital.”
As such, the family has much reason to believe that it was Rhea Chakraborty, her relatives, and her implants in Sushant’s life who played a big role in pushing him over the edge and abetting his suicide. Rhea Chakraborty has been a curious spectacle so far. From demanding a CBI enquiry in the case on social media, to now having her legal team run from pillar to post to buy her immunity from the central agencies, Chakraborty has done much to weaken her own case.
The CBI has been handed over the investigation in the case by the central government, acting upon the request of Bihar government for the central agency to probe the matter. Yesterday, the CBI registered the first FIR in the case, naming Rhea Chakraborty as the prime accused, while Indrajit, Sandhya and Showik Chakraborty also found mention. Samuel Miranda, Shruti Modi and an unknown person was also named as accused in the FIR under offences like criminal conspiracy, abetment to suicide, wrongful restraint and confinement, breach of trust, cheating and criminal intimidation.
The Enforcement Directorate, meanwhile, has summoned Rhea Chakraborty to question her on charges of laundering Sushant Singh’s money for herself and her family. The actor’s legal team, meanwhile, is reportedly floundering to somehow evade the questioning by ED. Meanwhile, sources from the Enforcement Directorate informed that money from two of the late actor’s four accounts was transferred to Rhea Chakraborty. The money transferred to Rhea was from Rajput’s two biggest accounts in Kotak Mahindra and HDFC banks. Rhea Chakraborty and her family have two properties in Mumbai’s prime location, which were recently purchased. The agency has asked her to show the documents of the said properties.
Smita Parikh, who was a friend of Sushant Singh Rajput since 2017, said that Rhea Chakraborty would not meet Sushant’s family when they would visit him in Mumbai. She also alleged that Rhea did not let Sushant maintain contact with his friends, effectively cutting him off from the world.
Now that the CBI is investigating Rhea and her family, one can only expect more revelations in the case. Rhea Chakraborty is attempting to evade central agencies, and had even approached the Supreme Court for relief, which was denied to her. As the CBI and ED take the lead now, Mumbai Police has been side-lined to be a mute spectator.
