August 5 was a historic day for Indian civilization. Hindus and Ram bhakts were provided justice after 500 years. The foundation for a magnificent Ram Mandir was finally laid by Prime Minister Modi. At a time when the world continues to battle a Chinese gifted pandemic, the only way devotees of Bhagwan Ram could witness the bhoomi poojan ceremony was via a live telecast. Therefore, Doordarshan took it upon itself to ensure that all Indians can witness the historic ceremony first hand while still in their homes, keeping in mind their inability to descend upon Ayodhya due to strict COVID related protocols.
Doordarshan choosing to provide live coverage of the day had already infuriated the country’s liberal and secular powerhouses, along with the anti-Mandir lobby who voiced their stern opposition to the same citing the national broadcaster’s ‘secular’ credentials. Since yesterday, the people of Kerala and West Bengal have been alleging that during the time when the ceremony was slated to take place, they had unusual and unannounced power cuts across the state.
In Kerala, multiple people took to Twitter to voice their anger against the administration for cutting power supply during the time when the bhoomi poojan of Ram Mandir was going on. The power supply was allegedly restored only after the culmination of the entire ceremony.
Same here in Kasaragod . .

Unanmounced Electricity Cut in Kerala to deny the right of Keralites to watch BhumiPujan. Frustrated CPM Govt desperately trying to blackout kerala
— J Nandakumar (@kumarnandaj) August 5, 2020
In West Bengal too, there was an alleged blackout of the entire ceremony due to power cuts, hence leaving a multitude of people with no means of watching the much anticipated and historic day live. The TMC’s hatred for Ram bhakts and the chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ is well known, and as such, draconian measures like blacking out the ceremony allegedly do not come as a surprise. Meanwhile, a total one-day lockdown had also been imposed by the Mamata government in the state yesterday, despite opposition from various quarters to the same, under the premise of keeping the spread of CoVID-19 under control.

Power cut in Bengal & Kerala at time of bhumipoojan. Didi & smuggler were not informed about youtube live telecast & also it's digital world.
😂😂😂😂— नौ पूर्व © (@nine_east) August 5, 2020
To deprive devotees the right to witness the live telecast of what was perhaps the most anticipated day for them is truly inhuman, and runs contrary to all Indian values, which include the right to freely practise one’s belief. From trying to stop the live telecast of the ceremony on Doordarshan, to now allegedly resorting to power cuts in states, some political outfits have much answering to do.
