Leftist mafia forces Bloomsbury to withdraw book on Delhi Riots but nationalists are just getting started

Bloomsbury, delhi riots, leftist, left liberals

Bloomsbury Publishing, the British Publishing house which is aggressively expanding in India in fiction as well as non-fiction section, has decided to pulp a book on Delhi Riots, after the social media outrage from the leftist cabal. The book “Delhi Riots 2020: The Untold Story,” was to be launched in an event with BJP leader Kapil Mishra, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri and OpIndia editor Nupur Sharma as Guests of Honour.

But the leftist cabal, which still controls the academia, publishing, and media, decided to boycott Bloomsbury if the publication house goes ahead with the book, and forced them to withdraw the publication.

This event of pulping a book by a publishing house gives us a chance to explore the ‘cancel culture’ prevalent in the leftist ecosystem, and how it carries out “ideological purification” of what the audience reads. Therefore, the selective institutional censorship is out in the open today. When a book, which is not out yet is being cancelled, serious selectivism of the left-liberals comes into light since they believe that it would carry out the narrative of the other side of the political spectrum.

This not only shows the ideological intolerance of the leftist mafia but also how powerful they are in certain professional fields despite being out of political power for more than five years.

A few weeks earlier, Sanjeev Sanyal, Principal Economic Advisor had raised the issue of nepotism, mediocrity, and ideological purification, which many famous authors like Amish Tripathi supported and also told their own experience.

Today writers and intellectuals like Sanjeev Sanyal and Amish Tripathi have been vindicated with a first-hand example of the intolerance of leftist mafia in the publishing industry.

After the publishing incident, Sanyal also tweeted how a “tiny cabal” imposes ideological censorship, and started a counter-movement and said that he would not publish a book with Bloomsbury.

“A few weeks ago, I had raised the issue of how a tiny cabal controls Indian publishing and constantly imposes ideological censorship. We have just witnessed one example of how this insidious control is wielded. I have not read the book in question & have no idea if it is good or bad. However, this is not a quality control problem but about censorship. I commit to never publish a book with @BloomsburyIndia,” tweeted Sanyal.

After that, many authors said that they will not publish with Bloomsbury given the fact that publishing houses have no spine to stand up to leftist cabal. Now the publishing house is caught between the ideological warfare between the people from two sides of the political spectrum.

Many authors, as well as many readers, promised to not publish and not buy a book published by Bloomsbury. Anand Ranganathan, who has already published two books with Bloomsbury and has one in pipeline, decided to return the money to the publishing house and junk the plan to publish his third book.

“If Bloomsbury does not retract its decision, my co-author and I have decided that we will return the substantial advance paid to us by Bloomsbury for our forthcoming book. We cannot allow our book to be published by a house that does not respect Freedom of Expression,” tweeted Ranganathan.

The book, written by Monika Arora, Sonali Chitalkar and Prerna Malhotra, will now probably be published by some other publishing house which might not be a mainstream publishing house and is also not controlled by the leftists. But, this whole event shows the kind of hold leftists mafia has on the intellectual life of the country. This one instance tells us that how dangerous it can be for the Freedom of Expression rightly enshrined to every citizen of the country as per the constitution of the Republic of India.
