No room for glorification of tyrants: Karnataka Govt drops Tipu Sultan from school syllabus

Great!

Tipu Sultan, Karnataka

The BS Yediyurappa government of Karnataka has taken the bold decision to drop the chapter on Tipu Sultan from its class 7 syllabus as a part of its exercise to cut around 30 per cent content and relieve the students due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Tipu, the erstwhile ruler of Mysuru has long been glorified in the history books published by Marxist and left historians and its high time that his fake bravado is deleted from the History books.

The revised syllabus uploaded on the Karnataka Text Book Society (KTBS) website shows that in the Class 7 social science text, Chapter 5 that deals with Haider Ali and Tipu Sultan, historical places of Mysore, and administration of commissioners have been dropped. Responding to a question on dropping the chapter, officials said it should be noted that the students study about Tipu in classes 6 and 10.

As soon as the dropping of Tipu Sultan from the Social Studies books came out in the media, the BJP leaders appreciated the move.

“He is a tyrant who was responsible for the massacre of Kodavas. In spite of doing so many bad things he was needlessly praised. I am happy that at least in one textbook he has been removed.” said MLA Appachu Ranjan

BJP MLA Appachu Ranjan is the same leader who in October last year had written a letter to the Primary and Secondary Education Minister of Karnataka, demanding that the lesson on Tipu Sultan be removed from history textbooks.

“Tipu was anti-Kannada Persian administrator. By teaching history lessons about such a personality to children, it will be like distorting history of the state and the country,” Appachu Ranjan’s letter read to Suresh Kumar, the Primary and Secondary Education Minister in the state.

We at TFI have extensively covered the altered history of Tipu Sultan who was a manic painted a freedom fighter by the pseudo-intellectuals and seculars of the country. Tipu’s cauldron of barbarity included the blood of thousands of Hindus, and yet he was the Tiger of Mysuru for some.

The erstwhile ruler of Mysuru, Tipu Sultan massacred more than 700 Mandyam Iyengar families in Melukote, including women and children during his rule.

The town, to this day, does not celebrate Diwali and mourns the death and destruction that the horrendous Tipu Sultan wrecked over the holy town.

Celebrating him is not only a cruel joke on the Iyengars but also on other communities like the Kodavas of Coorg, Nairs of Wayanad and Malabar, Zamorins of Calicut, the Mangalorean Catholics (Nasranis), the Jains of Dakshin Kannada, the Hindus from Dindigul and Coimbatore against whom he had committed unspeakable crimes including forced conversions; which Tipu himself mentioned in his two autobiographies: Sultan-ut-Tawarikh and Tarikh-i-Khudadadi, housed in the India Office Library, London.

Sultan’s lust for violence had reached new heights when in 1783 during his siege of Palghat Fort, “Tipu’s soldiers daily exposed the heads of innocent Brahmins within sight from the fort for Zamorin and his Hindu followers to see. It is asserted that the Zamorin rather than witness such enormities and to avoid further killing of innocent Brahmins, chose to abandon the Palghat Fort” as documented in the works of Col. Fullarton.

The Secular’s of the country want to project that people with vested interest are opposing Tipu because he was a Muslim Monarch, but the facts are clear as a day for everyone to see that he indeed committed monstrous atrocities. There is ample documentation of his massacres in Gazetteers of Mysore and Kerala.

The dishonest pop historians and Congress stooges might have the gut to show him as a secular benevolent leader and a freedom fighter but the truth is as far and away from them as their sensibilities.

Speaking of Congress, the KPCC President D K Shivakumar came out with a statement that is nothing short of political suicide for Congress.

“Tipu does not belong to one caste or religion. He is a part of our national history. BJP for its political ends is trying to twist history. Even President Kovind when he came to Karnataka had praised Tipu’s contribution. We will study the issue and not allow the government to rewrite and falsify history.” said the leader.

One of the first things Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa did after returning to power was to scrap Tipu Jayanti that was launched by the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government.

The former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah had commenced the tradition of celebrating the Tipu Jayanti. His fall began with the celebration of Tipu Jayanti and ended up with the defeat in the 2018 Karnataka Elections. This shows the extent to which Siddramaiah and Congress were consumed in the hatred for Hindus.

Interestingly, Vijay Mallya who bought the sword of Tipu Sultan had also gone financially bankrupt and had to do away with it.

Although the decision to ban Tipu Sultan from the books is for the current session only but going by the Modi government’s style of governance, it could be an indication that a major overhaul in the education system is imminent.

The Union government had also recently deleted a considerable amount of chapters from the Class 11 and 12th syllabus that most notably included the chapter on ‘Secularism’. The word ‘Secularism’ is given undue importance in the education system and is exploited by the country’s left-liberal teachers. This discourse is now all set to be changed.

A new Curriculum Framework is expected to become operative by the next academic year and, therefore, the public is hopeful that the government will address the dishonest altered history being taught to the students.

Tipu Sultan was a fanatic radicalized Muslim who shouldn’t be glorified and if Congress and other leftist historians indeed want him in the history books, then his barbaric and cruel truth should be presented unabridged in its full glory. This is a watershed moment for the Indian education system, and we are hopeful that such other numerous villains that have been puffed up in the Indian history books be shown their place.
