Moral: Don't mess with Yogi

After three days of relentlessly urging the Yogi government to allow the buses at the disposal of the Congress to ply in order to ferry migrant labourers across Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has now landed herself in an embarrassing spot. The partial list of ‘buses’ sent to the Yogi administration, in fact, contains registration numbers of scooters, private vehicles, autorikshaws and blacklisted buses.

Informing the same, UP CM’s advisor has said that many of the vehicles the Congress has claimed to arranged, in order to ferry migrant labourers, are in fact smaller vehicles such as motorbikes and cars or autorickshaws. In the preliminary checking of the numbers, it has been found that the numbers mentioned in the list as that of buses are actually of scooters, three-wheelers and goods carriers,” state minister Sidharth Nath Singh said.

Yesterday, the Yogi government accepted the Congress party’s offer to run buses across UP to ferry migrant workers to their destinations. This acceptance, however, came with certain riders. In the letter of acceptance, much to the dismay of the Congress party, the Yogi government sought immediate details of the 1000 buses which Priyanka Gandhi Vadra claimed to have at her disposal, and had also asked for the names of each bus driver and conductor. The UP government called for the details to be submitted by 10 AM today.

As a potential face-saver, the Congress released a partial list of 200 odd vehicles this morning, claiming all such vehicles to be ‘buses’. However, the subsequent scam-like exposé which the Congress has had to deal with would have definitely made them regret the very idea of locking horns with Yogi Adityanath, and trying to undermine his leadership.

The woes of Congress are not over, and they are being made to suffer setbacks on an hourly basis. Earlier today, the Yogi government had asked Priyanka Vadra to ensure that 500 buses are made available to the Ghaziabad District Magistrate by 12 noon. Again, the Congress was unable to do so.

The personal secretary of Priyanka then shot off a letter to Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Awanish Awasthi, stating that the buses were still enroute from Rajasthan and Delhi. This, in brazen contestation of the Congress General Secretary’s earlier claims of the buses being ready with the party for all services which may be needed of them.

All in all, the Congress in no way has the ability to arrange for 1000 buses, purely at its own expense using its resources, even if it has an abnormal appetite for public money. Extravagant claims of Priyanka Vadra have now come back to haunt the party, which is running from pillar to post in order to arrange for the said number of buses.
