‘No country in the world says everybody is welcome,’ Jaishankar blasts the anti-CAA lobby

Slay it like Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister of India S. Jaishankar on Saturday took the entire gang of anti-CAA to the cleaners with a single strike. After the commissioner of the UN Human Rights Commission (UNHRC), Michelle Bachelet, Monday informed India that her office had filed an intervention application in Supreme Court over the Citizenship Amendment Act or CAA, Jaishankar took to the UNHRC for its criticism on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, saying its director had been wrong previously too and one should look at the U.N. body’s past record on handling the Kashmir issue.

The United Nations human rights office had described the citizenship act as “fundamentally discriminatory in nature” and had called for it to be reviewed shortly after it was passed by Parliament in December last year.

The move has not gone down well with the Government and Jaishankar took a jibe at UN for carefully averting delicate issues like cross-border terrorism and poking in India’s internal matter “They carefully skirt around the problem of cross-border terrorism in the region as if it has nothing to do with Kashmir,” he said at the Global Business Summit.

“No country in the world says everybody is welcome,” said Jaishankar, hitting out at those criticizing India over the Citizenship Amendment Act. “We have tried to reduce the number of stateless people through this legislation. That should be appreciated, We have done it in a way that we do not create a bigger problem for ourselves.” he further elaborated when asked about how CAA works. India has said CAA was aimed at protecting minorities from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, but the UN body noted that the law “does not extend the same protection to Muslims, including minority sects”.

The secular and the left-liberal cabal has gone bonkers since the central government passed the CAA. There have been incidents of violence and riots all over the country. Countries like Pakistan, Turkey, and Iran have also seen this as an opportunity to get back at India. Recently, as covered by TFI, Iran’s unexpected hostility against India has also come in the form of an anti-CAA party. The supreme leader of Iran Ayotollah Khamenei tweeted about isolating India from the Islamic world over the CAA events in India. Interestingly, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif had also tweeted on a similar line few days earlier. Though just like Jaishankar, the Indian administration was quick to respond as the officials pulled the Iranian Ambassador Ali Chegeni and said “Zarif commented on a matter which is purely internal to India.”

Earlier, ace lawyer Harish Salve, in one of his articles explained the legality of CAA to the people questioning the act. His statements had already put the naysayers of CAA on the backfoot and now Jaishankar has stomped on the misery.

The anti-CAA protesters have done more damage to the country than any other country like Pakistan could have inflicted. The Shaheen Bagh conundrum has already taken more than 50 lives in the national capital of the country. From cosmetic-protests to using little children as pawns of propaganda in the garb of protests to vociferous anti-India slogans, mob lynching to arson to winning of an oligarchy government (Read: Kejriwal) the country has seen it all.

The death of four-month-old infant Mohammed Jahaan proved the fact as to how even infants are being used as a tool in the protests. Then there are so-called secular activists like Harsh Mander who try to fan the communal discord with hate speeches. The Supreme Court has already pulled up Harsh for his hate speech.

The deaths and destruction of property in the country is the result of fear-mongering and rumoring that entire fake left and liberal media has peddled. They have created an image that undermines the country on the world stage.

When the foreign minister criticizes the UN for its hypocrisy, it deserves applause because India is a sovereign country and whatever the issues may be going around. The country and its administration is more than capable of addressing and handling it.
