Intelligence agencies uncover Pakistan funding in Delhi riots and anti-CAA protests

More and more shocking revelations keep coming out of the anti-CAA protests and the Delhi riots as the investigations proceed further. Ever since, peace was restored in the riot-hit areas in Northeast Delhi, law has started taking its course with the police nabbing Tahir Hussain and Shahrukh Khan- the two main faces of the Delhi riots. Moreover, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by Delhi Police has also identified Head Constable Ratan Lal’s murderer and other violent elements involved in the riots, including those who had inflected serious injuries upon Shahdara Deputy Commusoner of Police (DCP), IPS Amit Sharma and Delhi Police officer, Anuj Sharma.

Now, Hindustan Times (HT) has reported that the government has specific evidence about Pakistan’s involvement in the anti-CAA protests all over the country. This makes that much more sense given that Islamabad has made desperate attempts to equate Delhi riots with 2002 Gujarat riots at the ongoing UN Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva.

In fact, even Pakistan PM Imran Khan had tried to pass off a seven year old video showing police action against a group of people in Bangladesh, as “Indian police’s pogrom against Muslims in UP,” on his Twitter handle.

Pakistan wants to create communal unrest in India, pass it off as an anti-Muslim pogrom and then make an international issue out of it. This explains the following tweet of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan after the Delhi riots.

According to Hindustan Times, Indian intelligence agencies have picked up cross country electronic chatter wherein likely Pakistani handlers can be heard coming down heavily upon their agents in India for not being able to mobilise enough crowds for anti-CAA agitations on March 3 and 4 despite all the funding at their disposal.

HT claims to have listened to one such call in which the likely Pakistani operative can be heard cursing his contact in India for not organising sufficient crowds. He goes on to add that he has to explain the lack of crowds to his higher ups. It doesn’t take much intellect to gauge that the call was made with the specific context of mobilising a show of brute, communal strength against the CAA.

Meanwhile, analysts in Delhi feel that Pakistan and its friends want to play up the myth of an anti-Muslim pogrom in Delhi last month in order to radicalise the Indian Muslims, especially the Muslim youngsters in Northern India. A similar modus operandi had been taken up by Islamabad after the 2002 Gujarat riots. Pakistan is finding support in Turkey and Iran which are trying to use their influence upon the Sunni and Shia leadership.

After Irnian General Soleimani’s killing earlier this year by the US forces, there was knee-jerk reaction with the Shia leadership in India- protests gave the illusion as if the Shia Muslims in India had a personal interest involved in an escalating US-Iran conflict. Tehran now seems to be leveraging that transnational show of loyalty.

As such, this revelation puts to shame the entire anti-CAA lobby. It only exposes the sham of indigenousness and spontaneity that the anti-CAA protesters have been regularly trying to showcase.

Videos of activists like Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan holding the National Flag and singing the National Anthem does make for very good PR. Secondly, it is also a conscious attempt to somehow alleviate the concerns of anti-India motives behind the agitation that get naturally attached to the anti-CAA agitation. It tries to project as if there is no communal angle behind the anti-CAA agitation and that it is a pan-India phenomenon cutting through sectarian divisions.

Despite all attempts to portray the anti-CAA agitation as indigenous and innocuous, seditionists like Sharjeel Imam and Amulya Leona have time and again spilled the beans, exposing the real intent behind the anti-CAA agitation. Amulya Leona, in particular seems to be too direct and truthful towards the invisible handlers of the anti-CAA protests with her ‘Pakistan Zindabad  (Long Live Pakistan)’ slogans. Moreover, the role of Islamist organisation, PFI, was also exposed by the authorities, with UP and Assam governments cracking down on the outfit.

Islamabad’s involvement helps us in connecting the dots too. It explains the biryani and snacks being doled out at Shaheen Bagh and other such sites. While langars make for good PR, reports of Pakistan’s involvement seem to suggest that it is the ISI which is sponsoring this entire sham.

With this it is clear that anti-CAA protests is a planned experiment, and not a spontaneous or student-led protest as it was being projected. In fact, it is not even homegrown. A set of Pakistani agents are trying to keep an entire country at ransom through a massive exercise of luring, indoctrinating and mobilising huge radicalised crowds in the garb of protesting. They are working in furtherance of Pakistan’s ambitions to create a ruckus- a violent unrest within India to be played up at an international level.
