“Coronavirus is an excuse,” The Wire journalist Arfa Khanum Sherwani still cannot get over Shaheen Bagh

She believes Coronavirus Pandemic is a conspiracy

Arfa Shaheen Bagh

The Shaheen Bagh protest finally ended after 100 days owing to the threat posed by the Wuhan virus. It was not before one of the protesters got infected with the virus did the protesters finally relent. Some radicalised women had earlier refused to leave the protest citing that,“Allah will protect them”.  The protest posed as a hunting ground for the Wuhan virus which would have wreaked havoc in Delhi. Finally, better sense prevailed and the protesters were cleared out with the protesters claiming that they will come back after the situation improves. However, The Wire journalist Arfa Khanum Sherwani feels that the virus was an excuse used by the Delhi Police to remove the protesters.

The Wire senior editor Arfa Khanum Sherwani in a video yet again showed her radical side as she claimed that they used the virus to remove the anti-CAA protesters. Sherwani then moves to explain that how the Delhi Police used “corona as a bahana” to forcefully clear the protest site.

Arfa begins her rant by singing praises for the women of Shaheen Bagh and how they abided the Janta Curfew. She then claimed that the clearing of the protest site was undemocratic. Now, even a child knows the threat posed by the Wuhan virus and how fast it spreads in a congregation. It was in the best interest of the protesters and the nation, that the site be cleared at the earliest to save lives. Arfa reiterates that the government should have allowed to protest as the women of Shaheen Bagh were following all the “hygiene practices”.

It is not as if Arfa doesn’t realise the grave threat posed by the Wuhan virus, she just wants the protesters to risk their own and the lives of Delhi’s residents so that the agenda continues to live on. So that Arfa can continue to sing praises of the women of Shaheen Bagh in her comfortable house. There is no doubt had the protest continued, Shaheen Bagh would have become a hunting ground for the Wuhan virus and people like Arfa would have been the first one to slam the Modi government for failing to protect the lives of the protesters. Arfa was conveniently holidaying in Paris during the peak of the protests.

In the video, Arfa along with a protester yet again claimed that the Delhi Police have misbehaved with the women. Arfa has a history of making such heinous allegations without any substance. In December last year, Arfa spewed venom provoked the radical elements by claiming that Delhi Police had sexually molested women in the toilets of the Jamia Milia Islamia University.

Arfa in a video was heard claiming that the female students had locked up themselves in the University toilets when the police personnel barged in and sexually assaulted them. She also claimed that the lights were turned off by the police after which they molested the girl students. It is shameful that she admittedly said this without any official confirmation and only on the basis of hearsay. She claimed to have heard this from teachers and students, however she didn’t really produce anyone who could confirm her version.

What Arfa Khanum Sherwani had done back then in the garb of journalism and reporting, is to indulge in sheer rumouring and bigotry.

Shockingly, she had slammed the government’s bill on Triple Talaq to peddle the “darra hua musalmaan” narrative.

Recently, Arfa asked the government to revoke the CAA so that the Shaheen Bagh ladies don’t get coronavirus.

Either Arfa Khanum Sherwani, being an economically independent woman, never had to face any of the regressive practices the bill seeks to curtail; or her need to defend the archaic practices of the religion is beyond region and logic.

It is absolutely clear that Arfa and her kind are least bothered about the safety of Indians from a lethal virus. What they are only concerned about is that their demands are met, by arm-twisting a government which cannot be arm-twisted.

People like Arfa Khanum Sherwani are so radicalised that they think even the deadly Wuhan virus is an excuse. There’s literally no helping such people.
