Tonsured, beaten and tortured – Attacks on SC community have crossed all limits under Gehlot’s CMship

But media doesn’t want to highlight the atrocities

Ashok Gehlot, Rajasthan, SC

The Congress governments, despite all their lip service to social justice, continue to be one of the most castist and anti-lower caste regimes. The very idea and principles of Congress party are based on caste system justification.

Since the early days of the establishment of the Congress party; it’s top leaders like Mahatma Gandhi justified the caste system, while the people like Veer Savarkar, wanted to establish a casteless Hindu society.

As per a report by The Indian Express, the atrocities on SC/ST community registered a 50% increase to reach 8,600 in 2019 against 5,700 of 2018. This is the highest number of cases registered against the weaker section of the community in the last decade. The previous number close to this was 8,500 in 2014. The atrocities against Dalit community increased exponentially after the Ashok Gehlot led Congress government came to power in December 2018.

Even in the previous Congress government, while too, Gehlot was chief minister, the atrocities on Dalit community were very high.

After Vasundhara Raje led BJP government came to power, it started a massive crackdown on criminals; many of whom were shot dead in daylight in a police encounter. Some criminals from the Rajput community, who have considerable influence on their caste members, were also shot dead, despite the fact that it irked the Rajput community, which has traditionally voted for BJP. But given BJP’s policy of zero tolerance on corruption and strict law and order situation, whoever involved in corrupt activities or created law and order problem, was dealt with an iron hand, irrespective of caste and community.

But ever since the Congress government came to power, the law and order situation has collapsed dramatically, which is reflected in the rising number of FIRs and increasing atrocities against the weaker section of the society.

Congress has always been a castist party. In various states of the country, where the party ruled for several years, the majority of Chief ministers were from upper castes. In Madhya Pradesh, where the lower caste votes for Congress party is a greater number than BJP, the grand old party always had an upper-caste chief minister, including the current one. In 1993, when the Congress won the MP assembly election, Digvijay Singh made every effort to convince the Congress high command that a lower caste can not become CM of the state, and finally succeeded, despite the fact that majority of MLAs wanted a lower caste to become CM.

On the other hand, BJP made Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Uma Bharti and Babulal Gaur chief minister of the state- all of whom come from OBC community. For BJP, the loyalty to ideology, clean image and dedication towards the community is more important than the caste of a person.

On the other hand, Digvijay Singh of Congress is infamous for openly bragging about his social engineering.

The castism of Congress and its inability to deal with law and order situation is visible in Rajasthan. The atrocities on Dalits in the state is a glaring example of how it discriminates between the people on the basis of caste, following the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.
