Rahul Kanwal has been in the news for his biased reporting as he is determined to follow the footsteps of his colleague Rajdeep Sardesai. His coverage and reporting has been so biased that over the past few weeks there was seemingly no difference between a Congress spokesperson and Rahul Kanwal. In a sudden turn of events, Kanwal recently announced on Twitter that he was going to take a sabbatical and pursue an executive program at the Harvard University. If one attempts to read between the lines, it is clear that Kanwal has been sent on holiday after going overboard with biased reporting.
Rahul Kanwal took to Twitter to announce his ‘short sabbatical’ which he shall take to ‘reflect’ and to be off TV and social media.
Folks, I’m taking a short sabbatical. Will be at Harvard Business School participating in an executive programme. Looking forward to spending next few weeks adding to my skills, immersed in new learning and reflection. Hope to be off TV & @Twitter cycle. See you on the other side

However, the timing of his so-called sabbatical leave us wondering whether he is indeed taking a holiday or has he been sent on leave? At a time when journalists in media houses are doing overtime, Rahul Kanwal is all set to be on a short sabbatical. It may be that the journalist has been sent on leave by the India Today group after a weeks of biased reporting which had backfired to a huge extent.
Ever since the JNU violence gripped TV news channels, Kanwal and his India Today team dropped all pretence and lobbied severely against the BJP and ABVP despite mounting evidence against the left. The ABVP took to Twitter and completely punctured Kanwal’s hollow claims as the journalist attempted to portray a distorted picture of the events that took place in JNU.
Akshat Awasthi can clearly be seen behind the left activists from 6 sec to 9 sec in the video while AISA’s Dolan Samantha can be seen assaulting ABVP karyakartas. Police is bordering ABVP and Left. Does @rahulkanwal have the guts to show this on air? #LeftBehindJNUViolence pic.twitter.com/mkDhb72icR

Even as the shooting incidents took place in Jamia and Shaheen Bagh, Kanwal took a one-sided line but had nothing to say when the shooter who yelled ‘sirf hindu ki chalegi’ turned out to be AAP’s own man.
Why are people pretending to be surprised by what's happening at Shaheen Bagh & Jamia. Minister led a rally as crowd chanted 'goli maro *** ko.' That's exactly what people on the street are doing. Hate speech and incitement have real life consequences. Delhi sits on a powder keg.

While Kanwal was quick to point fingers at Anurag Thakur and claim that Delhi was sitting on a powder keg, when the Delhi Police exposed that the shooter was an AAP member, Kanwal was conspicuous by his deafening silence.
Recently, Kanwal hosted his primetime debate at Shaheen Bagh where yet again his biased intentions were clear. The pro-CAA panellists were not only barred from speaking by the protesters, they even heckled, shoved and dragged off the camera, right in front of Kanwal. Kanwal then conveniently went on to paint a rosy picture of Shaheen Bagh on Twitter.
It is indeed odd that he has chosen to move away for a while and pause from social media ahead of Delhi elections, no TV news agency is interested in sending away its top journalist at the expense of some serious TV ratings during election time, unless if journalist has worn his popularity out, and needs to cool down.
