You’re not a movie buff if you don’t know this dialogue from Waqt – “Chinai Seth, Jinke Ghar Sheeshe ke Hon, Woh Doosron par Patthar Nahin Phenka Karte”. However, it seems that filmmaker Anurag Kashyap never heard of this dialogue, otherwise he would’ve thought twice before proving the age old adage of the pot calling the kettle black for the umpteenth time with his own example.
Anurag Kashyap, currently in the news for his virulent opposition towards the recently promulgated CAA, seems to have taken a nasty dislike for PM Modi, and has no qualms in resorting to below the belt attacks on the latter. To quote one of his recent tweets, “I want to see the degree of political science that the man who has implemented CAA on us has. First prove that Modi is literate, then we shall talk. #F**kCAA.”
#fuckCAA

However, not many people supported Anurag’s rants this time. BJP spokesperson Shalabh Mani Tripathi took Anurag Kashyap to task for insulting PM Modi as he tweeted, “Understand the reason behind his hatred for Modi Ji, Amit Shah Ji, and Yogi Ji, the taxpayer’s money earlier squandered on flop films was stopped by BJP government. Hence, the urge to provoke freeloaders against the nation is imminent.”

However, Shalabh didn’t just stop at that. He also published a series of letters and requests, which were made by Anurag Kashyap in context to grants for his movies ‘Mukkabaaz’, ‘Saand ki Aankh’.
He also exposed the association of Anurag Kashyap with the previous Samajwadi government with a further tweet that read as follows, “When he didn’t get the government’s alms for his flop films, a desperate Anurag Kashyap resorted to filthy abuses. Some governments wasted crores on his flop films as well, apart from luring him with the pension of Yash Bharati scheme. Now Yogi ji has stopped such perks and started giving the money to the poor, the widows and the farmers, which is the main cause of his nasty rants.”

Frankly speaking, Shalabh Mani Tripathi has exposed that facet of Anurag Kashyap, which he was deliberately trying to hide from everyone. Since ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’, Anurag has hardly managed to deliver a successful film. As director he gave ‘Mukkabaaz’, ‘Manmarziyaan’, while as producer, he brought out films like ‘Daas Dev’, ‘Bhavesh Joshi Superhero’, ‘Saand ki Aankh’ etc. However, none of them managed to even recover their basic cost. Anurag tried his hand in the web series genre, but except for the first season of ‘Sacred Games’, he found no luck there as well. For his contribution in ‘Lust Stories’, the less we say the better.
Coming back to the revelations, Anurag Kashyap hotly denied the accusations and tried to clarify his position, in a bid to expose the dual standards of the Yogi government. He tweeted, “I’m tweeting again because initially it was a private number. Film Bandhu scheme promotes filming in Uttar Pradesh, for which none contributed more to UP internationally than I did. We got subsidy under Yogi Government for Masaan as well.”

Dear Anurag, it is not compulsory to tweet even when you’re dead drunk. On one hand, Anurag used hilarious grammar in one substance [saying two subsidies instead of getting subsidies], and on the other hand, he fast-forwarded the release of Masaan two years ahead. Masaan released in the summer of 2015 when Akhilesh Yadav was in power, and Yogi Adityanath was only the Member of Parliament from Gorakhpur constituency. Trust Anurag Kashyap to lie about this shamelessly in a bid to please his patrons and further his business.
