‘Horrified that an educated person would tweet like this’, Smita Prakash slams Hindu-hating bigot Audrey Truschke for spreading lies

Smita Prakash Audrey Truschke

Audrey Truschke, a self acclaimed historian and scholar, who is known for her biased worldview and anti-Hindu propaganda has drawn fire yet again even as she took to Twitter spreading fake news about the anti-CAA protests at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).  In her incendiary tweet, she said, “Some news out of Aligarh — A few students had their wrists cut off. Many have had fingers chopped. Dozens badly injured. As a professor and a human being, I am horrified.”

At a time when rumouring and fear mongering about the NRC and the CAA is in full flow, Truschke chose to spread such fake news only with the ulterior motive of further inciting passions and violence. She got immediately called out for spreading such lies, and Smita Prakash, a noted journalist and Editor at ANI slammed her for spreading such inciteful propaganda. She said, “Horrified that an educated person would put out a tweet like this without verifying this information.”

Aligarh Police also took notice of the inciteful tweet. Exposing Truschke’s propaganda, Aligarh Police replied, “Respected Madam, this is just a rumor, check the facts of any such rumor and then send it, please cooperate in maintaining peace in the society.”

Even after getting totally exposed on Twitter, Truschke decided to stick with her falsehoods, albeit in a shaky manner. She said, “Folks—I’m getting a lot of pushback on this. I have this from a source I trust. I recognise that we can’t apply normal verification standards given the internet shutdowns, etc. All that said, I sure hope I’m wrong,” thus admitting that she has not verified what she is saying and quoted a “source” that she can trust for her inflammatory tweet. This is clearly yet another instance of Audrey Truschke spreading misinformation and falsehoods in order to grab attention.

The fact that this tweet is coming from Audrey Truschke makes the ulterior motive behind the tweet that much more manifest and obvious. In the recent past, she has been exposed spreading distorted facts and misinformation several times, invariably aimed at tarnishing the image of Hindu gods and goddesses. Last year, she took to Twitter and stated that Sita Mata had told Shri Ram that he was a ‘misogynist pig’ and ‘uncouth’. It goes without saying that she couldn’t provide any authentic source for the outrageous and defamatory claims she made, and resorted to playing the victim card when Twitter users confronted her about her insidious lies.

In her blatant and unfazed anti-Hindu propganda she had even cast aspersions upon the 2003 ASI report which proved that there was a temple beneath the Babri Mosque at the Ram Janambhoomi site at Ayodhya. She even labelled the opinion of an old Ram Mandir at the Janambhoomi site “communal hatred”. However, Truschke has been proven wrong recently as the Supreme Court decided the Ram Janambhoomi dispute in the favour of the Hindu side.

Interestingly her husband Thane Rehn, and father in law, Nate Rehn, both belong to the fundamentalist Christian organization ‘Bless India’ trying to “win India for Christ” as pronounced in the vision statement. Pastor Nathan Rehn is the founder of Bless India Ministries Incorporated (BIMI), 9729 Garis Shop Road, Hagerstown, MD 21740, USA.

BIMI has sent funds to a ‘Christ the King of Kings Ministries Welfare Association (CKKMWA)’, 11-160, Ashok Nagar, Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh-530026 during the period 2007 to 2010. CKKMWA has a FCRA Registration number of AP/010350118. CKMWWA has received a total of Rs. 1.64 crore from BIMI during 2007-2010. In I.T. returns of U.S.A, BIMI clearly mentions their motto on the first page under summary – ‘To train people in Christian Principles’.

Therefore, given her track record and her antecedents, it doesn’t really come as a matter of surprise that Audrey Truschke has relied on “sources” that she trusts, in order to spread abetting rumours and fake news about the anti-CAA/NRC protests at AMU. She has always pursued the agenda of distorting facts in the Indian context and with this she has only furthered her nefarious agenda.
