Blast from the Past – When Mamata protested against Bangladeshi “Ghuspaithiye”

And then someone whispered to her “Didi votebank, votebank”

Mamata Banerjee

Maestro of Muslim appeasement and vote bank politics, very philosophical in changing stances, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has betrayed everything she once stood for with her constant and rather voracious campaigns against NRC and the CAB, both of which she had fought for once, she seems to have lost her political grounds in the state. Appeasement of the Muslims especially the ‘Muslim infiltrators’ is the sole plank she is looking forward to.

Mamata Banerjee who is ruthlessly against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) even announced that “We will never allow NRC exercise and Citizenship Act in Bengal. We will not implement the amended Act, even though it has been passed in Parliament. The BJP can’t just bulldoze the states to implement it.”

On the contrary, she had herself raised the problem of infiltrators back in 2005 when she was a Lok Sabha MP, a recording from the session shows the then-Kolkata Dakshin MP Banerjee questioning the then-Deputy Speaker and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Charanjit Singh Atwal as to why the UPA- parliament was ignoring the issue of Bangladeshi infiltration. She accused the parliament of ignoring the issue, being biased against West Bengal.

Mamata Banerjee had even expressed anger in Lok Sabha over infiltration saying, “Sir, I want to know from you sir, the infiltration in Bengal, it has become a disaster now. Illegal migrants from Bangladesh are also part of the voters’ list in West Bengal. Both lists of Bangladeshi voters and Indian voters are with me. I would like to request to you that it is a very serious matter asking, when will this matter be discussed?” she had said. On being said that the matter had been disallowed by the Speaker, she had retaliated angrily, “Why has it been disallowed? Tell me the cause, why has it been disallowed? It is in Bengal- that is why? No, this is not fair.” She had even thrown the papers over the chair in the house in protest.

Then-Speaker and CPI(M) leader Somnath Chatterjee had reportedly disallowed her notice to raise the subject of illegal Bangladeshi migration on grounds that it was not in a proper format. Later, Banerjee had sent her resignation to Chaterjee- who was also her rival in West Bengal state politics – but was turned down by the Speaker, as per reports.

Surprisingly, she has turned a messiah for the infiltrators now, as she repeatedly has emphasised that the CAB and NRC will not be allowed in West Bengal. Even on the day when the CAB was tabled in the Lok Sabha, Mamata Banerjee had said“We will not allow anyone to deport any person from the country. There will be no NRC and no division. There can’t be a divide and rule policy; nothing is bigger than the country. People can have big political slogans but the country should not suffer due to it. It’s a divisive bill and shall be opposed at any cost.”

She had added, “There is no need to worry about NRC and CAB. We will never ever allow it in Bengal. They can’t just throw out a legal citizen of this country or turn him/her a refugee.”

Mamata Banerjee even after fighting the communist regime for a long time, has become all-powerful –dictator CM, she has forgotten the issue which had made her submit her resignation back then, with this she has failed the hope of people of the state who want to get rid of infiltrators. Mamata’s Muslim appeasement has caused enough deaths and has damaged sufficient public property, she must realize this now. Notably, even today the Muslim community alongside their infiltrator brethren have been pelting stones, burning stations and damaging everything which comes in their sight. Mamata is trying to act as the guardian and protector of illegal infiltrators entering India from Bangladesh.
