Yogi Sarkar vs Akhilesh Yadav govt- one took action against illegal mosque construction, the other fired the officer

Akhilesh yadav, yogi, mosque

The erstwhile Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwadi Party government had practised minority appeasement throughout its tenure which had instilled a sense of feeling in the state that rogue elements in the minority community could get away with anything in Uttar Pradesh. The Yogi Adityanath government systematically put an end to such blatant misuse of power as his government focused on the development plank and not appeasement politics, but the state is still reeling from the deeds of the Akhilesh Yadav led SP government as we can see in the case of an illegal mosque which was constructed in Sambhal.

India has displayed a remarkable show of unity post the Ayodhya verdict as both the Hindus and Muslims united which is a testament to India’s democratic and secular fabric. Despite the best efforts of leftists to brainwash and incite Muslims, the Indian Muslims refused to buy their hollow arguments. However, a certain section of the society isn’t happy with this and are trying their best to divide the country into religious lines. When the UP police on Wednesday stopped the illegal construction of a mosque which was allegedly erected overnight, all hell broke loose.

The series of events started a couple of months ago as some people had started offering namaz inside a madrassa in Navada locality of Saraitareen, under Hayatnagar police station. Sometime later, the locals witnessed the construction of a mosque inside the madrassa premises and the police had to intervene and stop the construction of the mosque.

Despite the orders of the sub-divisional magistrate that no further construction should take place, the construction of the illegal mosque resumed again and was erected overnight as by the time police reached, the roof of the building had already been completed. They locked up the premises to stop prayer gatherings from taking place. District magistrate Avinash Krishan Singh said police force had been deployed to stop further construction.

The police who had locked out the mosque to prevent any mischief from the miscreants, were in for a shock when some people who were dispersed by the cops went to an adjacent mosque, from where they announced on loudspeakers that police had stopped them from offering namaaz and thrown their holy book out of the “new mosque”. Soon, a large crowd gathered to create a ruckus. Women broke the lock in the presence of police. Sensing further trouble, the district magistrate (DM) rushed to the spot with SP Yamuna Prasad and immediately deployed the Rapid Action Force to defuse the situation. Better sense finally prevailed as the DM’s proposal that the madrassa won’t be locked and they can continue with their religious activities as long as they don’t organise mass prayers were accepted by the community.

Radical thinkers like Asaduddin Owaisi are still trying to divide the nation through his polarised views post the Ayodhya verdict and the events that took place in Sambhal will only further Owaisi’s cause. As we could see in the case of IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal, who was suspended by Akhilesh Yadav for demolishing a wall of a mosque such appeasement politics have led certain sections to believe that such illegal constructions can be legitimised in the name of respect for faith. Durga Shakti Nagpal was suspended by the Akhilesh Yadav government and the government was accused of removing her for taking action against illegal sand mining.

However, Akhilesh Yadav refuted that claim and said that she was suspended for demolishing a wall of a mosque. This disheartened bureaucrats who defended her move as she was only preventing encroachment on government land by demolishing the illegally constructed wall. The Yogi Adityanath government is the perfect antidote to Akhilesh Yadav government’s appeasement politics and illegal constructions of buildings no matter of what faith they belong to, must be stopped or demolished.
