Asuraj Rambh’s son Mahishasura was a great demon king. He could take the form of a buffalo whenever he wanted. Mahishasura performed a great penance and managed to pleased Bhagwan Brahma. He got many blessings from Bhagwan Brahma. He then went on to defeat the gods and became the suzerain of Swargalok.
The Gods channeled all their powers and created Mata Durga. Bhagwan Shankar gave his terrible trident to the Mata, Vishnu gave his chakra, Yamraj presented his sword and shield to the goddess. Devraj Indra produced another Vajra from his Vajra and presented it to Mata. Similarly, other gods embellished Mata Durga with their weapons.
Goddess Durga killed Mahishasura along with his entire demonic army. Therefore, even today, Mata Durga is worshiped as a goddess equipped with weapons. Now take a moment and think, how will it look if Khadga, Chakra, Gada, Chap, Parigha, Shool are all removed from the hands of Mata Durga. You would say..ummm…inconceivable. But this is happening in reality. And this is happening in West Bengal, the biggest stronghold of Mata. The interior of the Barisha club pandal shows goddess Durga without weapons and that her hands are free to “give shelter to birds” destroyed by mobile tower radiation.
A puja pandal in Calcutta is worshiping a statue of Mata Durga without arms. The worshipers are either executing a conspiracy sponsored by the Liberal intellectuals or abiding by some nondescript rule set by the highly secular government of West Bengal. But this is only the beginning of the story. There is another puja pandal where Ajan is being performed from the puja pandal to strengthen social harmony. In West Bengal’s Beleghata, the theme of the puja is communal harmony. The Pandal is decorated with rituals and paintings of various religious figures besides Hindu. Azan keeps playing from a loudspeaker to strengthen communal harmony.
There is another puja pandal where the decoration is shocking. The Pandal is decorated with alternate patterns of Hindu Om and Islamic Crescent moon. Nowhere else will such a ridiculous and garish display of religion and pseudo-secularism can be found. It is to be known that the sole contract of secularism rests in the hands of the Hindus. Have you ever heard of Gayatri recitation in Eid or Bhajan Sandhya during month of Ramadan? If this never happens,why Azan is being recited from Puja Pandals and what explains the Islamic decoration of the pandal?
The weaponless idol of Devi Durga is just a statue, it cannot be Mother Durga. And there are other ways to strengthen social harmony, Islamizing Durga Puja is not one of it. Devotees of the Devi are kindly requested to boycott such events because it is not an insult to you or me, it is an insult to Jagadamba, the mother of the world.
