The gruesome and cold-blooded killing of former Hindu Mahasabha leader, Kamlesh Tiwari, has shocked the entire nation. The manner in which Kamlesh Tiwari was killed and the names that have emerged after the killing has made things uneasy for the state government and especially the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
If you look at the grim situation of hate-crimes in the last 10 days which majorly involves barbaric murders of the BJP leaders, there emerges a problem. Is the Yogi government failing Hindus as a whole? Despite coming to power riding on the majority Hindu vote-bank, Yogi has not been able to arrest the slide.
One after another, communal killings are taking place and BJP leaders like Chaudhry Yashpal Singh, who was killed at Deoband on 8th Oct, Kabir Tiwari, who was murdered in Basti on 10th Oct and Dara Singh, who was murdered at Saharanpur on 13th Oct are some of the few examples as to how things stand as of today in UP.
Kamlesh Tiwari had for long been on the receiving end of unparalleled levels of hate, and a section of society and clerics (read: mullahs) had also offered a bounty of Rs 51 lakhs over his head. Over a lakh people called for his head in protest against his remark on the prophet.
From day one it was crystal clear that he was marked and targetted for life. The extremists were waiting for the past four years to an opportunity. He was continuously the target of Muslim groups who were miffed by his statement on Prophet Mohammed.

Sadly, Yogi govt proved lax here, it failed to protect Tiwari. In a video that has surfaced, Tiwari can be seen visibly agitated for his security being brought down despite the regular threats to murder him.

The Yogi government which has taken pride in clearing UP from the Gunda-raj and ushering it into Ram-Rajya has tough questions to fend. But when the UP GDP comes up with such a disappointing statement where he seemed afraid to state the hard-facts and instead indulged in victim shaming and blaming, it makes one wonder, why the state-government is so relaxed and not doing anything substantial to make the situation better.
‘Inciting speech’? If this is not victim shaming, I don’t know what is! Deeply disappointed with @myogiadityanath administration. First they couldn’t protect #KamleshTiwari even though he was getting death threats, and now they are blaming him for getting his throat slit! https://t.co/effNGj7KrA

What is the point of ruling UP with such a majority @myogiadityanath when your top cop @dgpup is indulging in victim shaming and blaming #KamleshTiwari for getting his throat slit? Are Hindus only for votes? Don’t Hindu lives deserve any security? https://t.co/effNGj7KrA

The 2018 tweet from Kamlesh Tiwari proves that demands of Tiwari had fallen on deaf-ears of Yogi’s administration and that he was left in the middle all alone.

The then Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwadi Party had slapped the National Security Act (NSA) on Tiwari and jailed him. Tiwari had got bail after being jailed for almost a year when the Allahabad HC in September 2016 quashed the NSA charges slapped against him.

Say what you want but what PM Modi and President Trump said in their Howdy Modi speeches has again been proved true. Radical Islamic Terrorism is the greatest threat that India faces today, not Hindutva. And no matter how much anybody denies this reality and tries to live in their utopia, these are the harsh truth-bombs that everybody should start accepting, otherwise this might just be the tipping point for something far more sinister. CM Yogi Adityanath needs to pull up his socks and come up with solutions as soon as possible.
