How Modi government ensured safety and security of Kashmiris and non Kashmiris alike while redefining J&K’s future

As massive developments coming from the Parliament government has scrapped Article 370 and has moved to proposal to declare Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir as a union territory. Nonetheless the removal of Article 370 is surely a huge boost to the amalgamation efforts of the Modi government over the past few years.

Moreover the preparations for bringing about this massive change have also been up to the mark.  From massive troop buildup in the state to preventive detention of susceptible disrupters, the Modi government has again given an indication of its effective and diligent planning.

While no one can point out when the preparations had actually began the first indications had surfaced on July 25 around 100 companies of paramilitary forces were moved into the state which had sparked the speculations around the issue. Later reports had also surfaced that around 280 additional companies that make around 28000 troops in to the region, however nonetheless unconfirmed reports have pitched the number of troops at around 1.5 lakh in the state.

With Kashmiri politicians giving fuel to rumors, Modi government was also swift to discard all the speculative attempts and had maintained a firm control over the safety of the people of Kashmir and the tourists. Looking at the safety of pilgrims on Amaranth Yatra in the state advisory was also issued which urged all the tourists to immediately cut short their trip and move to safer areas. The advisory read “that they may curtail their stay in the Valley immediately and take necessary measures to return as soon as possible”

As the speculations churned further and further, the Modi government had also imposed precautionary restriction around sensitive areas. The official statement of the government read “Restrictions imposed in Srinagar. Modi Government has imposed restrictions under section 144 CrPC in District Srinagar with effect from Midnight 5th August 2019 which shall remain in force till further orders. As per the order there shall be no movement of public and all educational institutions shall also remain closed. There will be a complete bar on holding any kind of public meetings or rallies during the period of operation of this order. Identity cards of essential services officials will be treated as movement passes wherever required. However, there is no curfew in place as reported in a section of media.”

Several Leaders of the Kashmir valley including Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah who were actively resorting to fear mongering and fueling rumours, were also placed under preventive dentition considering the security concern in the region, mobile and internet services were also partially suspended in the region.

Nonetheless all the efforts of the Security Forces and of Modi government have finally fructified as Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the upper house of the parliament today at 11 am to end the circulating rumors and anxiety of the citizens in the country, pertaining to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. In a remarkable and unprecedented move, Amit Shah introduced a constitutional amendment bill in the parliament, aiming to remove the article 370 of the constitution.

The Union Minister Amit Shah has moved a bill in Rajya Sabha to give union territory status to Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir. The government will make Ladakh union territory without legislature like Daman and Diu while Jammu & Kashmir will also become union territory with legislature like NCT of Delhi.
