Shahid Afridi was crying about aggression in Kashmir. Gambhir walked down the pitch and hit him out of the park

Cricketer turned politician and BJP MP from East-Delhi Gautam Gambhir has slammed former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi over his comments on recent developments in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Narendra Modi government on Monday, in a historic move revoked the special status given to Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh; and completed the process of complete amalgamation of the regions with India which had started with the signing of Instrument of Accession between then princely state of Jammu and Kashmir and Dominion of India nearly 72 years ago in October of 1947.

Crying foul over Indian Government’s move Shahid Afridi in a tweet called for the intervention of UN and American president over said developments, he tweeted, “Kashmiris must be given their due rights as per #UN resolution. The rights of Freedom like all of us. Why was @UN created & why is it sleeping? The unprovoked aggression & crimes being committed in Kashmir against #Humanity must be noted. The @POTUS must play his role to mediate.”

Taking note of this meek attempt, Gautam Gambhir also took to the microblogging site to give a befitting reply to the former controversial Pakistani cricketer. He had tweeted, “@SAfridiOfficial is spot on guys. There is “unprovoked aggression”, there r “crimes against humanity”. He shud be lauded for bringing this up. Only thing is he forgot to mention that all this is happening in “Pakistan Occupied Kashmir”. Don’t worry, will sort it out son!!! “

While the rivalry between sportsmen is not uncommon, one of the most unique, as well as the most aggressive rivalries, that between Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi and Indian cricketing star Gautam Gambhir. Be it their fiery exchange at Kanpur in 2007, or the occasional rivalry online, none of the two have tried to bury the hatchet.

Gautam Gambhir along with his skills to snub Afridi in the field with his magnificent shots has again displayed that he can do the same outside the field too. This is not the first time the cricketer turned politician had taken on his opponents with such class. Earlier in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections when separatist leader and ex Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti took a dig on his career, Gautam replied back in style and exposed her hypocrisy following which Mehbooba herself blocked his account and tried to portray herself as a victim. We hope that Gautam Gambhir continues to take on these rouge elements head on with same wittiness and firmness.
