P Chidambaram Case: Rajdeep, Barkha and Rana are having a glorious meltdown on Twitter

In an act arising out of extreme cowardice, Palaniappan Chidambaram, former union finance minister and senior Congress leader is on the run after the Supreme Court’ decision to turn down his plea for urgent hearing of his anticipatory bail application in INX media case.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the investigation agencies involved in Chidambaram’s case in INX Media as well as Aircel Maxis case are currently searching for the Congress leader in various places including his residence in Jor Bagh, South Delhi.

Having been given the term, “pulled a Mallya”, the act of disappearance is no doubt extremely disgraceful, and an attempt to interfere in the due process of law. An individual under law is innocent until proven guilty, but this disappearing act certainly points towards a degree of fear for what the court and the investigative agencies may discover.

The responses to this disappearing act have by and large been the same, with people perturbed at the blatant corruption and refusal of Chidambaram to answer to his deeds. However, as always, the liberals of India have been attempting to cover the situation by bringing in new angles and highlighting vague, unimportant aspects to ensure that Chidambaram’s reputation doesn’t take a hit.

The primary of these is journalist Rajdeep Sardesai. He tweeted, “In 2010, P Chidambaram was home minister when Amit Shah was arrested in an alleged fake encounter case; now 9 years on, Shah is home minister and PC could be arrested in an alleged financial scam. Wheel full circle: vendetta or law catching up? You decide!!”

— Rajdeep Sardesai (@sardesairajdeep) August 20, 2019

It is pertinent to note that Amit Shah was exonerated off all his charges, whereas Chidambaram is currently fleeing from his current investigations. To compare the two, in an effort to downplay the Congress leader’s crimes is completely unwarranted and uncalled for. Further, Sardesai’s tweet reeks of ‘vendetta politics’, while Chidambaram’s case is being probed by the respective authorities and the verdict has come from the judiciary.

He also tweeted, “More breaking news: more midnight drama. CBI team arrives at Chidambaram residence for a second time, wants him to appear before them within 2 hours! Long night ahead. The only answer: let the law take its own course. gnight, shubhratri.

— Rajdeep Sardesai (@sardesairajdeep) August 20, 2019

Rajdeep Sardesai, through this tweet expresses how woeful and unhappy he is, that CBI has arrived at Chidambaram’s house for a second time. Moreover, he seems to be quite perturbed that Chidambaram has been asked to appear before the CBI within 2 hours, which, if Sardesai’s flabbergasted response is to be considered, is a crime in itself.

Rana Ayyub too, attempts to draw a parallel between Amit Shah and Chidambaram by tweeting, “In 2010 when Chidambaram was Home Minister, the CBI was looking to arrest Amit Shah while he was absconding. Reverse in play while Amit Shah is Home Minister. Anyones guess.”

— Rana Ayyub (@RanaAyyub) August 20, 2019

She conveniently overlooks Chidambaram’s alleged crimes and the corruption cases for which he is being investigated.

Barkha Dutt too doesn’t shy away from expressing her loaded take on the situation. She tweeted, “Surely illogical to think that the government/agencies would not know where Chidambaram went after he left court. Suspect they also waiting for the case to play out fully in Supreme Court today.”

Surely illogical to think that the government/agencies would not know where #Chidambaram went after he left court. Suspect they also waiting for the case to play out fully in Supreme Court today.

— barkha dutt (@BDUTT) August 21, 2019

By this, she essentially shifts the blame on the government and the agencies for his disappearing act and even goes as far as to accuse them of lying.

This just reinforces the fact that however the situation is, the liberals can always be counted on to twist the story and seek out angles so as to render the Congress leaders guilt free. They will essentially talk about everything under the sun to highlight everything but the case at hand.
