Indian left-liberals have consistently downplayed violence against Hindu community

Communal tensions flared up in Delhi’s Hauz Qazi area in Chandni Chowk after a scuffle over parking space took an ugly turn. According to police, around 10:55 pm Sunday, a man identified as Aas Mohammed was parking his two-wheeler outside one Sanjeev Gupta’s home. The argument over the parking spot turned physical when a group of men from one side bashed up the other. The two were held and brought to Hauz Qazi police station for further investigation.

“While Mohammad and Gupta were held in the police station, a false rumor spread that a man had been beaten to death. “Around 350 people gathered outside the police station and some went outside Gupta’s home, where a temple is situated. It is alleged that some unidentified men vandalized the temple,” an officer said.

Not surprisingly the mainstream media staying with its stance has decided to conveniently underplay this heinous crime as the identity of the accused does not fit well with their political agenda. Mainstream media has been called out time and time again for blatantly whitewashing or totally eliminating the reportage of crimes committed by certain sections in India. However, after continuous backlash from the online community, members of the left-liberal gang have given in and are coming out with their version of concerns, however, their hollow concerns have been outrightly rejected on many forums. But this is surely not the first incident where the inherent hypocrisy of the pseudo-liberal ecosystem stands exposed.

Another indication of this underlying hypocrisy can be noticed in the liberal-reactions which came out over past incidents in which identities of the victims were used to push specific agendas. Whether it be the alleged bike thief Tabrez Ansari case, alleged cow smuggler Pehlu Khan or other such cases, the penchant for ‘context’ and ‘nuances’ these liberal journalists are fond of when it comes to cases involving Hindu victims gets thrown away immediately and the entire Hindu community is painted in black color. These elite liberal journalists become the flag bearers of activism. All these issues saw heightened involvement of left-liberals to force out another anti-Hindu narrative and question the inclusive and open culture of Indian Society.

Controversial journalist Rana Ayyub has been at the forefront of this hypocritical reporting. She had tweeted, “The plotters of Kathua represent many millions of such Hindus who have reached the conclusion that India must eventually become an apartheid state, a Hindu rashtra where the Hindu has first claim to everything writes @samar11”

In her tweet, she essentially reels in the Hindu community using an isolated incident and paints them as a community which wants an ‘apartheid state’.

In another incident, Sagarika Ghosh also tried to carve out an anti-Hindu narrative out of an incident in Jharkhand where an individual was beaten up by a group of youth after he was allegedly caught stealing. Essentially linking one of the most sacred religious chants for Hindus with violence and claiming it is being used to propagate hate. While similar journalists were fast to attack the ‘Jai Shree Ram’ they have remained mum on all the religious slogans used by radical terrorists before committing heinous terror crimes and violence against humanity.

She tweeted, “From the gentle “Ram Ram” we have come to the political war cry & prelude to violence “#JaiSriRam”. Let’s learn from Gandhi how not to practise hate in Ram’s name. My take in Sunday @timesofindia”

Another controversial personality Zainab Sikander‏ had tweeted Jai Shree Ram shall be recognized as an exclamation for violent terror activities. She had tweeted, “For the longest time, RW ridiculed Muslims for the phrase Allahu Akbar for being an exclamation before violent terrorist activities. It’s about time they recognize that Jai Shri Ram has also become an exclamation before violent terrorist activities.”

These comments by the pseudo-liberals are just a drop in the ocean of their hypocrisy and contempt for Hindu sentiments. This distressing journalism might be surprising to many however for those who have followed the narratives of the left-liberals for long are not surprised by their astounding efforts to show their holier than thou attitude even while condemning violence against Hindu community in Chandni Chowk. The conduct of many left-liberals is surely a remnant from previous regimes in India which have left no stone unturned to whitewash or omit anything from history, records or others for the sake of misguided secularism.

This seasonal activism becomes starker when we look at their coverage on violence issues such as the murder of Hindus in Bengal, Meerut exodus of Hindus and Kairana, murder of RSS activists in Kerala, etc. As a part of their vote bank politics, various political parties and left-liberals under their patronage have made every attempt to put the Hindu community in a bad light and at the same time turn a blind eye to all the crimes committed by other minority community. Nonetheless, India does not need the hypocrisy of left-liberals to fight against ghastly crimes irrespective of the identity of the perpetrators and all the horrific acts surely call for the harshest of punishments by law.
