In a further case of embarrassment for the Congress party, an aggrieved farmer openly confronted Gwalior MP and Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia for not fulfilling the much-touted loan waiver promise.
Recently, a video from Madhya Pradesh went viral on media. In this video, Jyotiraditya Scindia is seen to be conducting an election rally, where hundreds of the Congress supporters are chanting ‘Jyotiraditya Zindabad’. In this very video, an aggrieved farmer wishes to make himself heard but is unfortunately prevented from doing so by the party members, who ask him to sit down. When Jyotiraditya Scindia took to the stage to speak about the loan waiver promise, the farmer openly addressed his problems and confronted him on the same. He accused that the police officials are now after the farmers who have defaulted on their loans.
For those unaware, the Congress party, almost on the verge of political extinction, bounced back by capturing the three states of Rajasthan, Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh in the assembly elections. One of the chief promises that influenced the voters and drove the grand old party back to power was the waiver of loans of small farmers, which would be executed within 10 days of assuming power.
It is more than 150 days since Congress assumed power in the three states. Forget Madhya Pradesh, even farmers in Rajasthan and Chattisgarh have not received their waiver as of now. Instead, they’re now either being handed receipts of ridiculous waivers of their outstanding loans or being harassed by the state police for not repaying their loans. The charade was further exposed when the incumbent CM of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath said that he has ‘no magic wand to waive off the loans within 10 days.’ Has Congress taken the poor and oppressed of the three states for granted?
Interestingly, this is not the first time the party had to face such embarrassment during political rallies. When motormouth politician Navjot Singh Sidhu tried to abuse PM Modi during a rally, he was not only jeered at but also attacked by a woman, who threw her slippers on him. Congress stalwart Digvijaya Singh had it even worse. When he attempted to mock BJP for not putting Rs. 15 lakhs in each account, a young spectator came up to the stage and roasted him, mentioning that by giving the terrorists from across the border a tit for tat, the incumbent government has paid his Rs. 15 lakhs with due interest.
