The Congress candidate from Lucknow, controversial spiritual leader ‘Acharya’ Pramod has hit out at his newly inducted Congress colleague. It would seem that Shatrughan Sinha is being accused for cutting Congress’ votes in the Parliamentary constituency. In a tweet ‘Acharya’ Pramod Krishnam taking aim at Shatrughan Sinha and said, “From the behavior of Shatrughan Sinha, it appears that although he has joined the Congress, but has not yet resigned from the RSS,”

Pramod Krishnam comments come after Shatrughan Sinha was seen with his wife, Poonam Sinha during filing of her nomination from Lucknow. Poonam Singh is the SP-BSP alliance candidate from Lucknow Parliamentary Constituency. Shatrughan Sinha was also seen campaigning for his wife and was also present in Public meeting organized by SP near Ghantaghar on Thursday.

Shatrughan Sinha was also called out for his anti-party activities during his stint with the BJP however even after jumping ships to the Congress, he is continuing with his policy of personal agenda over Party agenda. Shatrughan Sinha was also in the crosshairs when he had praised Muhammad Ali Jinnah at a Congress event,  he had said “This is a Congress family; it is a family of all from Mahatma Gandhi to Vallabhbhai Patel to Muhammad Ali Jinnah to Nehru to Late Indira Gandhi to Rajiv Gandhi to Rahul Gandhi to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. It is a party, they have played a significant role in the development of the country, in advancing the country, in country’s freedom, and therefore I joined this party, and once I am here, I will not go back.”

Counting in the events, Shatrughan Sinha’s addition to the Congress is turning out to be more adverse than beneficial for the grand old party. Shatrughan Sinha’s campaign for his wife in Lucknow is sure to further aid BJP’s Candidate ,Union minister Rajnath Singh to improve his lead over his opponents. Rajnath Singh in the 2014 general elections had got 5,61,106 votes  which was more than 50% percent of the valid votes cast in the Parliamentary Constituency, Congress candidate in second place just got 2,88,357 votes.

Adding to problems for Congress, many believe that Congress’ move to field Pramod Krishnam as candidate has not gone down well with the local Congress Cadre.

Acharya Pramod has been in the crosshairs for his blatant attempts to appease the minorities,  In July 2017 while addressing an event in , ‘Acharya’ Pramod had made shocking communal statements, in a video which interestingly went viral just before the polls , Pramod Krishnam is seen saying “people who are not followers of Prophet Mohammad cannot be together with us”. These communal statements by Pramod Krishnam raise hard questions on him calling himself an ‘Acharya’.

With Congress party desperate to save its face from another embarrassing defeat in the 2019 general elections, these general elections have been seeing everything from promises to ‘dilute’ AFSPA in Jammu and Kashmir to the fielding of highly communal and polarizing figures like ‘Acharya’ Pramod. However it remains to be seen what actions Congress takes against the newly inducted Shatrughan Sinha for working ‘against’ the party candidate in Lucknow.
