Congress has stooped to a new low by insulting the President of the country again. Udit Raj, who is the sitting MP from North West Delhi, insulted the President of India, Ramnath Kovind, by calling him “dumb and deaf”. Raj who recently joined Congress after leaving BJP said that the President had asked for his help to get a post as the governor.
Udit Raj said that in 2014, Kovind had visited him with his bio data and asked his help to gain recognition in the party. He added that Kovind wanted some position and power in the party. Raj said that he made an effort in this regard and helped Ramnath Kovind become the governor of Bihar. Later the party made him the President. It is highly unacceptable to call the President of the country “deaf and dumb” and take credit of his dedication and abilities as an individual.
Udit Raj said, “BJP want Dalit, but it does not want a Dalit neta (minister). Ramnath Kovind came to me with his bio data on May 20, 2014 and asked me if I could recommend him to the party (BJP) so that he could get some recognition in the party. I tried for that, after which he became the Governor and then became the President. So within the BJP, a deaf and dumb Dalit can reach any position. First he was made the national spokesperson, now he is the President. If I would have been deaf and dumb then they would have made me also Prime Minister. They want deaf and dumb. They don’t want Dalit leader, but just Dalit vote,” It is shocking that members of the grand old party are now ready to insult the first citizen of the nation who represents the country.
Udit Raj left the Bhartiya Janata Party with the accusation that BJP did not accommodate ideas to uplift the Dalit of the country. However, the actual reason is that the defected MP was not given the ticket which did not fall in good taste for him.
Insulting high dignitaries of the nation is nothing new for the Congress Party. Previously the CM of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot had blatantly passed derogatory comment on Ramnath Kovind. Gehlot said, “Ramnath Kovindji was made the President keeping in mind the caste equations ahead of the Gujarat Assembly elections. This is why Advaniji was left behind”. Congress leaders have time and again used the caste differences in order to instigate people to vote for them. Moreover, using the caste differences to insult a person with such high stature is extremely disgraceful.
Congress Party is digging its own grave by insulting dignitaries of the country. It shows that the party has no respect for the constitutional framework. It has no regard for the office bearers who represent the integrity of the nation. Congress should stop making derogatory remark and rather focus on performing better in the Lok Sabha elections.
