Sunny Deol joins BJP, likely to contest from Gurdaspur

After Famous hair stylist Jawed Habib joined hands with the BJP, famous actor Sunny Deol has joined the party. Sunny Deol joined the BJP in the presence of Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and  Union minister Piyush Goyal.

“The way my Papa worked with and supported Atal ji, I am here today to work with and support Modi ji. My work will do the talking,” he said after joining the BJP.

This comes after a number of famous personalities have joined the BJP and reiterated their support and trust in Prime minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Earlier, Sunny Deol had also met with BJP Chief Amit Shah at Pune Airport. The meeting which reportedly lasted for 5 minutes had fueled the speculations over the actor taking the Political leap. Yogesh Gogawale, BJP district president, Pune confirmed that the meeting between the two was scheduled but refused to share the details of the conversation, ANI reported.

“It was a scheduled meeting. I don’t know what conversation took place between them,” Yogesh said.

“Amit Shah came to Baramati as per the scheduled programme. When he was at the airport, Sunny Deol was also there. He met Amit Shah for five minutes,” he added.

Sunny Deol, gained wide recognisition and praise after his stellar performance in in Rajkumar Santoshi’s critically and commercially successful Ghayal in 1990.  What followed were a series of blockbusters like Damani and Gadhar:Ek Prem Katha.His famous dialogue in the movie Damini, “tarik pe tarik’ became iconic and a pop culture reference.

Sunny Deol for his performances had been given multiple awards for his acting. Sunny Deols’ father, Dharmendra is already a part of the BJP. Hema Malini, related to Sunny Deol is also contesting from Mathura on a BJP ticket.

Sunny Deol is also likely to contest from the Gurdaspur parliamentary Constituency in Punjab. However, confirmations are awaited.

All the 13 seats of Punjab will go to polls in a single phase on May 19. The last date to file nomination is April 29. The scrutiny of the nominations would be done on April 30 and the last date of withdrawal of candidature would be May 2.The nominations for the upcoming elections would be filed in the office of respective returning officers situated in District Administrative Complex from 11 am to 3 pm from April 22-29, excluding April 27 and 28.

Various distinguished personalities joining hands with BJP clearly indicates the mood of the nation. Narendra Modi’s leadership has been successful in attracting professionals from different fields. Recently, Gautam Gambhir was also declared the BJP candidate from East Delhi parliamentary constituency, Sunny Deol if declared the candidate from Gurdaspur, will surely give a huge boost to NDA alliance in Punjab.
