Controversial journalist Rajdeep Sardesai has once again decided to manipulate the words of PM Narendra Modi’s speech adding his own assumptions. The journalist has alleged that the Prime Minister of bringing the Hindu-Muslim rhetoric in political debate. This statement, however, held no authenticity. The speech given by the Prime Minister at a rally in Wardha spoke about the contestation of Rahul Gandhi from Wayanad.
The Prime Minister had mentioned that due to the unapologetic anti-Hindu statements by his party, it would be difficult for Rahul Gandhi to win from a majority dominated constituency. The PM said “Congress which played the “Hindu Terror” card was now apprehensive of a backlash from majority community and that is why Rahul Gandhi had decided to contest from minority-dominated Wayanad, Kerala.”
The speech made no such mention of the term “Hindu” or “Muslim” as mentioned by Rajdeep Sardesai who seems to find reasons to pick on PM Modi. The speech was in no way condescending to any community but elaborated upon the wrong done by Congress.
The UPA stalwarts like Digvijay Singh and Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde had blamed the BJP and RSS of propagating “Hindu Terror” in 2013 which brought Congress in bad light. The Prime Minister gave a strong answer to the Congress saying that Hindus have never been involved in any terror activities. The PM said that Rahul Gandhi with the fear of not being able to undo and take back the statements of his party members chose to contest from Wayanad. The constituency of Wayanad presents a situation where the majority is in minority as also mentioned by the Prime Minister.
Rajdeep Sardesai, however, brought out another angle of coining the “Hindu-Muslim” connotation while tweeting “News Today: Rahul Gandhi running away to contest in a seat where the majority is a minority says PM Modi: are we back to Hindu-Muslim election rhetoric? Who benefits from polarised politics? That’s the main debate on @IndiaToday at 9 pm” It is hence evident that it is not Mr. Modi but Rajdeep Sardesai who has been waving off the religious angle.

The propagation of the “Hindu Terror” narrative has brought disdain to Congress and there is no way to escape for them. The running through temples by the Congress leaders would not erase the fact that the party has been unfair to Hindu community. PM Modi, in his speech, very specifically mentioned majority and minority in terms of numbers and the religious aspect was only in filtered by Rajdeep Sardesai.
The journalist in the past has tried to shoot his agenda by criticising the work of the Modi Government. The examples of such case are the Vadra case on which Sardesai tried convincing the audience of Robert Vadra’s innocence. This news however back fired as the unavailability of Vadra’s name on the benami property proved of fraud and illegality.
It is evident that the famed journalist is picking sensitive issues to collect TRP and manipulate statements of the leaders of the ruling party. He, on the other hand, seems to shut his lips on any comments made by the Congress party. This clearly shows his inclination and agenda which goes out against BJP and influencing the citizens to not vote for the Bhartiya Janta Party. Hence, using a strong platform of media to spread such assumed perception is unhealthy for any democracy.
