The ever changing educational qualification of the mother-son duo

Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, educational background

The affidavit submitted by Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi has discrepancies in the educational qualifications that have been registered by them. The mother-son duo is lying or rather confused about their education. It is not surprising as Congress and its actions are as blurred as its future in 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Ten years ago, in a major embarrassment for Rahul Gandhi, the details about his educational background, as stated in the affidavit filed for his nomination as a Lok Sabha candidate from the Amethi constituency, turned out to be incorrect and misleading. In the affidavit signed by the current Congress president in 2004, Rahul Gandhi had just mentioned his senior education, which he completed in 1989 and his MPhil in Development Economics.

The discrepancies were found when the leader did not incorporate the same educational details in the 2014 affidavit which he signed. The 2014 affidavit has “Development Studies” mentioned in it instead of “Development Economics”, which was earlier mentioned in the 2004 affidavit. The two disciplines are entirely different.

There is another difference in the 2014 and 2004 affidavits. The 2004 affidavit has no mention of the Bachelor Degree the Congress President has received from the Rollins College. However, in 2009 and even in 2014 affidavits it magically appears that Rahul is a Bachelor from Rollins. The party supremo is too confused about his education. The 2009 affidavit has Rollins College education very well mentioned but then the 2004 affidavit does not have any mention of the particular educational qualification.

Well, like mother like son. We cannot solely blame Rahul Gandhi for the goof-up about his educational background in his affidavit. His mother and the former Congress president Sonia Gandhi too is not sure of where she is educated from. While the Congress leader in 2004 affidavit has mentioned that she received her degree from Lennox Cook School, “Cambridge University”, the 2009 affidavit does not mention the Cambridge University but it just says “Lennox Cook School, Cambridge”. There is no mention about the university. Sonia Gandhi as a senior politician is aware of the scrutiny the affidavits go through; giving incomplete information is highly unacceptable.

Congress is trying all kind of trickery to escape its alleged fraudulent stance in affidavits. The Congress party, which portrays itself as a force that is backed by intellectuals have leaders who are confused about their own educational background. A party that is not clear on personal information of its president and former president is trying to win an election that holds the stake of more than a billion people and their fate and future.
