According to a report, Indian Union Muslim League workers attacked the NDA candidate from Wayanad Thushar Vellappally. A group of about 200 Muslim League and Congress workers attacked the convoy of NDA candidate. Thushar Vellappally is contesting against the Congress President Rahul Gandhi from the constituency. Thushar Vellappally is the president of Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS), which is part of the NDA.

According to Organiser, the incident took place in Wandoor, Malapurram district. The attackers also vandalised the car of Thushar Vellappally. Other NDA workers travelling in the convoy were also hurt during the attack. Wandoor is part of the Wayanad constituency. It is well known that Rahul chose to contest from Wayanad because it is a Muslim majority constituency and the Gandhi scion knows that he is probably going to lose his bastion Amethi to Smriti Irani. The Congress is backed by the strong presence of their alliance partner Muslim League in this region.

BDJS, on the other hand, is fighting its first Lok Sabha polls in Kerala. The party was founded in 2015 and has been allotted five seats as per the seat-sharing agreement. Thushar is the son of Vellappaly Natesan, who is the General Secretary of the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP), which is an influential social and cultural organisation that represents the largest OBC community in Kerala. Vellappally has always held a pro-Hindusim stance and has been fearless in expressing it.

The opposition is now attacking the NDA leader who is standing against Rahul Gandhi. Congress and its allies reached a new low by indulging in violence to ensure a comfortable victory for Rahul in Wayanad.

There have been numerous incidents of attacks against the BJP and RSS workers in various states across the country. Recently, a 75-year-old Modi supporter died on the spot after he was allegedly beaten up by a DMK-Congress supporter. The elderly man was campaigning for the upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu.

In another case of poll violence, the body of a BJP worker was found hanging from a tree in West Bengal. The deceased is a 22-year-old, who hailed from Senabana village in Purulia district. Local BJP leaders have accused the TMC of murdering the youth. His father is a Gram Panchayat member and had won the local elections on a BJP ticket.

Intolerance and violence against the BJP and its allies have been rampant across the country. Recently in January, participants who attended the rally of the BJP President Amit Shah were beaten up in East Midnapore district, West Bengal. Other than that there have been various reports of violence and hooliganism against BJP workers in Bengal. There have also been numerous cases of violence against BJP and RSS workers in the state of Kerala.
