The CSDS-Lokniti-The Hindu-Tiranga TV-Dainik Bhaskar Pre-Poll Survey, 2019 has brought out the results of support gained by PM Modi. The survey indicated that about 43% of the respondents support Narendra Modi. This is a 7% increase from the survey conducted back in 2014. A pre survey was also conducted by the same institution in May, there is a 9% increase point even on that number which was 32% in 2018. This is a proof that the Prime minister in this year has gained popularity. He had an increase in support coming from the people over last year. Opposition’s rant on issues like the Rafael went blunt and citizens were least affected by the charges.
The survey brings out an important aspect of the policies that have affected the survey results. The survey shows that the Prime Minister and his policies on foreign and internal issues have borne fruit and this is a plus point to his popularity. It is also another boost to the National Democratic Alliance as there were speculations around the corner about it, not securing the similar majority as 2014. The survey however indicated that the NDA can not only win the elections but might cross its previous record to win it big. The survey also revolved around another question related to the PM, if he would be given another chance or not?
Not very surprising, the public voted a unanimous YES on bringing the NDA government back to power and giving Narendra Modi another chance. There were three policies that gave an impetus to the popularity quotients. The first related to the national security concerned strikes on Balakot by the Indian Air Force. The “go ahead” to the armed forces by the government, showed a strong political will of the ruling party in retaliating against terror from the neighbouring countries. It also gained global international support from the major powers around the world. This has thus been a master stroke of the government.
The second important step taken has been the 10% reservation of the economically weak sections of the society in Government jobs and educational institutions. The reservation which was initially objected by masses across the country later proved not only considerable but was also appreciated. It helped a major chunk of the population receive the opportunities they otherwise had been denied. The people were happy and thus the ruling party scored another home run.
The third most important power play by the government has been the PM-KISAN scheme. The opposition has been very keen on bringing up the farmer’s grief under the NDA government. The PM-KISAN scheme which gave financial assistance to the poorest section of the farmers brought a hope to the framers of the country and an answer to the opposition. These steps taken by the government will prove to be very positive for NDA in the General Elections 2019.
