The left-liberal cabal recently went into an overdrive in order to pursue its agenda of creating a sense of disbelief about the EVMs used during elections and maligning the Election Commission of India. The cabal peddled a fake news story about the alleged malfunctioning of an EVM in Goa during a mock poll. Certain social media portals reported that the faulty EVM had ended up getting 17 votes even though only nine votes were polled for the BJP.

The narrative of ‘Election of Shame’ that the AAP tried to set was taken up by its mouthpiece Janta Ka Reporter, which tweeted, “HUGE- In ‘election of shame’ BJP gets 17 votes from EVM with 9 votes, embarrassed Election Commission changes ‘entire set of EVM’ in Goa. Complaints of EVM malfunctioning reported from Kerala, Karnataka and Rampur in Uttar Pradesh,” and also ran a story about alleging that the malfunctioning allegedly favoured the BJP.

Another leftist portal, The Logical Indian, was also involved in spreading this fake news. It tweeted, “During the mock polling, the Bharatiya Janata Party received 17 votes from its quota of 9 votes. The incident happened a few hours before the third phase of the election during mock polling.”

However, later on, the Election Commission busted this fake news story. In a press release, the Election Commission made it clear that “misleading and factually incorrect information” was circulated in social media and media. The Election Commission clarified that the allegation of 17 votes being cast for the BJP during the mock poll was completely false and misleading. In fact, during the mock poll 17 votes were recorded in favour of the Congress.

It is, therefore amply clear that the allegations made against the Election Commission by several portals and the AAP were completely false and misleading. The left-liberal cabal has realised that the public sentiment is against them in background of the ongoing elections and therefore they are trying to somehow discredit the Election Commission in order to find an excuse for the eventual defeat in the Lok Sabha polls. The general public should be careful about what such portals spreading fake stories report, especially when it comes to reporting about the EVMs.
