A diary note that has been accessed by the Republic TV , has new revelations in the Madhya Pradesh raid. An amount of 12 crores out of the 280 crores had been taken out from the Poshan Aahar scheme of Madhya Pradesh. A total of around 20 crores was detected as Hawala transfers by the Congress party ruling in the state of Madhya Pradesh to a senior functionary in Delhi. 280 crores unaccounted cash has been collected by the IT department from the MP raids on places belonging to close aides of MP CM Kamal Nath.

The report, by the Republic TV, has revealed that the money that was meant for the scheme serving the poorest of the poor, has allegedly been used by the Congress to fund the campaign. Poshan Aahar is the scheme flagged by the Madhya Pradesh government to provide food and nutrition to the malnourished. This scheme also provided money to pregnant women and lactating mothers belonging to the poor section of society in the state.
The Republic TV report says “In a letter issued on Tuesday morning to the Election Commission, the Finance Ministry had made clear that the Income-Tax raids were conducted as a result of a tip-off about money movement allegedly taking place from Madhya Pradesh to the national capital.” The report also said that on connecting all the dots that have been revealed so far, it can be concluded that the money has been used for funding the campaign. The debatable question is, whether the Congress party is taking money out of the pro-poor schemes to fund elections?
The siphoned off money would have been allegedly used for the campaign of the party. The transfer of money has taken place not only from the Poshan Aahar scheme but also other state government departments. These include, PWD, Excise, Mining, Export and even energy. The note that has been accessed also mentioned accounts like “Election AICC”, “Delhi- AICC”, “Leaders” and “MLAs”. There are still discussions about where did the transfer actually take place. There is an indication by the report of the news channel that the transfers are allegedly done to the candidates that are contesting the election on a Congress ticket.
Congress Party, which claims to be pro-poor, is under question for the raids that have taken place in Madhya Pradesh and transfer of money in huge numbers. All those who have been accused in the raids, have close connect with Congress. Does Congress steal money from the poor to win elections? If the accusations regarding funding of campaign with illicit money are true, Congress has once again proved that it is unfit for being chosen as a ruling party in Lok Sabha elections.
