Vistara, Bakshi

Top executives from Air Vistara met Major General (Retd.) GD Bakshi, following the massive backlash on Twitter after the airline deleted a tweet mentioning GD Bakshi from its official handle. Air Vistara shared a picture of the meeting on its official handle and stated, “It was an honour meeting you at your home yesterday. Thank you for your gracious understanding, warmth, and hospitality. We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you on board again soon!”

Earlier, Air Vistara had tweeted a picture of the highly decorated officer along with two air-hostesses. The airline had stated that it was honoured to have him on board and had also thanked him for his service to the nation. However, the left wing trolls could not digest the respectful gesture of Air Vistara towards the army veteran and respected war hero. The left wing trolls soon launched a hate-filled backlash against Air Vistara and Major General Bakshi. Some of these trolls even went to the extent of threatening that they wouldn’t fly with Air Vistara again. The illiberal liberals, who usually issue diktats on how the society should conduct itself, left no stone unturned in unjustifiably bashing the premium airline for its gesture towards the highly decorated army veteran.

Controversial journalists Rohini Singh and Rifat Jawaid were some of the more prominent individuals who couldn’t fathom the fact that Air Visatara shared the Major General’s picture. Even though Air Vistara’s gesture was praised by a majority of social media users, the airline succumbed to the intolerance of the liberal brigade. The liberal brigade loves hating the respected war hero and therefore the pseudo-liberals made it a point to ensure that Air Vistara was forced into deleting the tweet.

However, the airlines also released a statement about this issue which read, “Vistara routinely posts happy photos of our customers on board along with our crew. However a recent such post generated numerous comments that were disrespectful to all parties concerned. We do not want our platform to be disrespectful or hurtful to anyone. Our decision to remove the post was driven by the objective of deleting such comments. Thank you.”

The fact that Air Vistara sent its top executives to meet the army veteran and also shared the picture of the meeting on its official Twitter handle must have come as a big blow to the liberal brigade. With this, it has become clear that in spite of its powerful propaganda machinery, the liberal brigade failed here.

The gesture by Air Vistara, even after suffering the hate-filled backlash from the liberal brigade, has been welcomed by several Twitter users, which is a clear reflection of the general public perception.
