Tax authorities debunk lies peddled by Caravan magazine on Yeddyurappa

Congress is in neck deep trouble nowadays. Following the insensitive statements made over the Pulwama attacks by Rahul Gandhi’s political guru and ex-Chairman of National Knowledge Commission, Sam Pitroda, the Congress tried to deflect the anger towards the BJP by citing the report posted by notorious magazine Caravan, alleging that ex CM and current Karnataka BJP head BS Yeddyurappa indulged in corrupt transactions.

Caravan magazine posted the following on Twitter:-

According to this report by Caravan, BS Yeddyurappa, the then CM of Karnataka, had indulged in corrupt transactions and had bribed leaders like Arun Jaitley, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, L K Advani etc, to the tune of a whopping Rs. 2000 crores approximately. According to Caravan, copies of these documents, with the signatures of Yeddyurappa on each of them, have been there with the Income Tax Department and the Central Board of Direct Taxes since 2017, and no action has been taken as such.

This issue was raised by Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala, who alleged that BJP is being a hypocrite by hiding such transactions. Congress President Rahul Gandhi endorsed these claims.

However, when the news went viral, vigilant netizens took it upon themselves to analyze the claims. Within hours, they found the allegations to be absolute white lies. To add to the agony of Congress, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), issued a press statement, categorically denying every claim made by the party over BS Yeddyurappa’s alleged transactions.

According to the CBDT press release, the originals, claimed to be in the possession of senior Congress leader from Karnataka, D K Shivakumar, did not exist at all. This is not all, some of the netizens also raised questions about some of the allegations, which were inaccurate when compared with actual facts.

No wonder why the trend of ‘Congress Ki Fake Diaries’ went viral soon after the actual revelations. This not only nips the conspiracy right in the bud but also poses a major question: Did Congress resort to such cheap tricks just to divert the outrage against the barbs of Sam Pitroda on Pulwama attack?

Also, we should know that it is the same Caravan magazine, which had spread brazen lies about the martyrs of the Pulwama attack, trying to divide them on the basis of caste lines. Backed by ex-Minister in UPA Government, Jairam Ramesh, Caravan magazine claimed that ‘upper caste nationalists were trying to take credit for the martyrdom of the lower caste soldiers.’

Besides this vomit inducing article, Caravan is also notorious for shoddy hitjobs without any facts to back them, be it on NSA Ajit Doval’s son Vivek Doval, or on BJP President Amit Shah. The vugillant netizens and the CBDT have busted the half baked lies of Caravan magazine and Congress within hours and hope that the public teaches them a fitting lesson in the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
