Anti-BJP trolls react despicably even as the state of Goa mourns the demise of its beloved Parrikar ji

Manohar Parrikar Trolls

Even as Goa CM Manohar Parrikar passed away yesterday evening causing anguish not only to the people of Goa but the entire nation, anti-BJP trolls including certain well-known leftist liberals could not control the urge to give hate-filled reactions even as the conscience of the nation was shaken by the death of the tall leader. In fact, many people were seen celebrating the death of the Goa CM. These shameless people who reacted with celebratory emoticons after the saddening demise of the Goa CM and former Defence Minister, Manohar Parrikar had anti-BJP accounts belonging to a particular community that was clearly driven by ideological hatred and communal indoctrination of the worst kind. Celebrating the demise of a human being and that too one who was deeply loved by the people, his party and even his opponents for his indefatigable attempts and unshakable dedication towards the welfare of the people, is the very antithesis of basic humane principles.

However, such disgusting reactions were not limited to little-known social media trolls. In fact, influential sections of the liberal brigade reacted in the shameful and filthy manner of trolls after the demise of Parrikar ji. Lindsay Pereira, a journalist who writes for portals like Huffington Post and Scroll gave disgusting remarks about the late leader. His hateful reaction was not only insulting towards Parrikar ji but also laced with hatred towards the Hindus of India and constituted an outright insult of Hindu sentiments and culture. It seems that out of their ideological and communal hatred, these elements are making such disgusting comments without any regard towards the sentiments of the people of Goa and the nation at large who are in a state of mourning after the demise of the Goa CM.

Self-acclaimed intellectuals have also not been far behind in giving despicable reactions about the demise of Goa CM, Parrikar. Ashok Swain tweeted, “Why every dead man is a saint in India! Parrikar is the one who conspired against ‘rancid’ Advani to make Modi BJP’s PM candidate, he as the defense minister gave up his constitutional duties allowing Modi to buy Rafale for Ambani, he hung on to CM chair for months on death bed.” He also tweeted, “A bigot is a bigot – Dead or Alive! If anyone expects me to be nice to a bigot, just forget it.”

Therefore, he repeated Rahul Gandhi’s Rafale lies. Rafale has been bought in order to take care of the IAF’s requirements. However, the Rahul Gandhi led party and its ecosystem has been relentlessly trying to claim that PM Modi had entered the deal in order to benefit Ambani. Even though the issue has been settled several times and Rahul Gandhi proven wrong, the Congress president and his sycophants have not stopped spreading disinformation about the deal. And now they have started this campaign to defame late Goa CM, Parrikar after his saddening demise. As far as the comment of hanging on to the CM chair is concerned, such trolls cannot understand that working towards the betterment of the nation while battling a disease like cancer is an exhibition of Parrikar’s amazing statesmanship and dedication. These trolls seem not to understand this is nothing to be frowned upon.

Late Manohar Parrikar had held the post of Goa Chief Minister four times and remained popular among the people of Goa throughout his political career. Seen as a wonderful administrator and builder of modern Goa, he epitomised simplicity and tirelessness when it came to the welfare of the people. The Hindu, a popular daily known for its ideological leanings also carried an obituary for the late Goa CM. However, the obituary seemed more like an agenda-driven editorial piece trying to set a new narrative about the late Goa CM. One of its paragraphs read, “Mr. Parrikar’s sangfroid self often hid the astute politician he was. In 1994, for the first time, the BJP sent four legislators to the Goa Assembly.

Mr. Parrikar was one of them along with the current Union Minister Shripad Naik. The parallel run of Mr Parrikar and Mr Naik ended here. Mr. Parrikar soon outstripped Mr. Naik, who was the BJP State President from 1990 to 1999, to become the first BJP CM of Goa in 2000. Mr. Naik left State politics to become the first BJP MP from the State in 1999.” The editorial piece also quoted Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president, Girish Chodankar’s disgraceful and insensitive comment, who had stated, “He was known for his manipulative politics. He kept files on every politician in the State including those in his own party and the opposition.

His own Health Minister Vishwajit Rane was heard in audio tapes claiming that Mr. Parrikar has the critical Rafale files carrying critical proof against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This was nothing new to him.” He was referring to the same unverified (read doctored) audio tapes which Rahul Gandhi had refused to authenticate in the Lok Sabha. Nothing better could have been expected of the Congress. However, the fact that such disgraceful remark formed part of a popular daily’s ostensible obituary is absolutely disgraceful and insensitive.
