Vicky Kaushal, the lead actor of URI: The Surgical Strike, is flying high with his latest blockbuster. On the professional front, the swashbuckling superstar is enjoying a taste of success with each of his new releases. Since last year, Kaushal had gathered much praise from the audience as well as from critics for his performances in films like Raazi, Sanju and Manmarziyaan. However, the flamboyant actor too has his share of doubting Thomases who leave no opportunity to troll him.
Earlier one of his ‘well-wishers’ made a comment, “He (Vicky Kaushal) doesn’t have hero face…a common punjabi ladka yes, but he has filmy background bas utna hi kaafi hai aaj bollywood me”.
In his recent interview on Famously Filmfare, Vicky was asked to react on the comment. In his response Vicky calmly said, “Apart from the last time, ‘utna hi kaafi hai Bollywood mein’, I think there’s nothing wrong in what he said. I don’t have a filmy face or a hero face”. Further, taking a dig at the nepotism remark, Kaushal added, “Sir, you are most welcome in Bollywood and try and survive a week and we will have a cup of coffee together and I will ask you the same question”. In case you’re unaware, Vicky’s father, Sham Kaushal, is a stunt director.

In the meantime, the blockbuster Uri: The Surgical Strike, seems to be on a fast pace to success just like Train-18. Officially it’s week no. 5, and yet the Aditya Dhar directed movie shows no signs of stopping at all. With collections raining in despite the reduction of screens, the overall collection of this movie has breached Rs. 300 crores, which is a rarity, given the shelf lives of most of the current Bollywood movies.
According to a famous trade analyst cum Bollywood news portal Bollywood Hungama, Uri has earned a total of Rs 206.27 crores till date domestically, on a medium budget of Rs. 45 crores. Apart from that, the movie, which is based on the historical surgical strikes conducted in 2016 and released in the theatres on 11 January, has earned an impressive total of Rs. 100 crores approximately from overseas collections, which takes the total to an unbelievable Rs. 306.27 crores worldwide.

This is historic since ‘Uri’ neither has any major star nor has the typical ingredients for a smashing Bollywood blockbuster. Yet, this film has not only surprised the trade analysts but also rode on the overwhelming response of the audience to breach this figure in barely 5 weeks, something not even the likes of Baahubali have been able to do through the Hindi version.The ‘Josh’ is really high among the audience.

Moreover, coming back to the topic of nepotism, according to data sourced from the box office performances of movies of 68 films released since 2000 as launch vehicles for star kids, 46 bombed. Although, there are enough examples which prove that an easy debut with the support of the family does not necessarily translate into a successful career. However, Bollywood star kids such as Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal have proven that their Bollywood connection is not the only reason they are successful today.
