The Josh is high: ‘Uri’ beats ‘Baahubali’ at the box office

The phenomenal wave created by ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ just doesn’t seem to stop. The movie is now well within its 4^th week, and despite the competition from movies like ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’, the film continues to rake in millions.

Just recently, trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted a tweet on his timeline that revealed a pleasant surprise about the collections of the movie.

According to this tweet, the movie has earned a total of Rs. 15.34 crores on its 23^rd and 24^th day respectively. What makes this even more significant, that the film has eclipsed the collections of the hugely successful franchise ‘Baahubali 2’, which had earned Rs. 14.15 crores in the same time frame, only from the dubbed Hindi version.

Overall, the movie has earned a whopping total of Rs. 188 crores just domestically at the box office, and has already breached the mark of Rs. 200 crores in terms of worldwide collections. Given that this movie was made on a medium budget of Rs. 45 crores, this success has definitely earned the tag of a ‘blockbuster’ and now ‘Uri’ is on the verge of becoming an all-time blockbuster.

Ever since this movie has hit the theatres, this movie is breaching every parameter with each passing week. Only the previous week, the movie had breached the lifetime domestic collections of movies like ‘Sanju’, ‘Padmaavat’ and even ‘Simmba’. Given that the mentioned movies have been made on higher budgets, the fierce success of Uri is nothing less than phenomenal.

However, the success of this movie is also a tight slap on the face of those, who have made bashing anything even remotely pro India their favorite pastime. Thanks to the venomous articles posted by left-liberal portals like ‘Film Companion’, ‘TheWire’, ’Scroll’ etc., people flocked to the theatres, regardless of their rants, as if to teach them a hard lesson on basic ethics.

On a welcome note, the success story of the blockbuster ‘Uri’ has also demolished some of the pet projects of the elite Bollywood at the box office. Heavily Hinduphobic and rather left-liberal in nature, movies like ‘Why Cheat India’ and ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’, which tried to mock the sentiments of the Sanatan community with deliberately negative portrayals of Hindu characters, have tanked at the box office.

Going by the weekly collections of ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’, it doesn’t seem well for the elite Bollywood, who’re still trying to impose their archaic thoughts on a rather evolving Indian audience, who don’t like to be served anything nonsensical in the name of entertainment. The ‘Josh’ is really high among the audience.
