Shameless sycophancy in the Congress continues as the local party workers in Moradabad have put up posters of Robert Vadra, saying, “Robert Vadra ji you are welcome to contest elections from Moradabad Lok Sabha constituency.”

It seems that the Congress party workers religiously promote nepotism in politics. When it comes to practising dynasty politics, the Congress party has a league of its own. In the Congress party, dynasty is preferred over leadership skills. Dynasty politics has been part and parcel of Congress’ culture. The entire Congress party works towards promoting one particular family. Time and again we have seen examples of this. Despite an abundance of more able leaders, Indira Gandhi was considered as the ‘natural successor’ of Nehru.
During the Emergency, Sanjay Gandhi acted as the power centre and when Indira Gandhi died Rajiv became PM. After a brief interval from the Gandhi dynasty, India and the Congress party again had to contend with another Gandhi at the helm, Sonia Gandhi. She indirectly controlled power unlike the preceding members of the Nehru-Gandhi family. After Sonia Gandhi, now her son is the president of the grand old party and the entire party is working towards projecting him as the PM candidate. Priyanka Vadra was officially inducted into the party last month. And, now her husband, Robert Vadra, is apparently finding it very difficult to crush his political ambitions.
These posters in Moradabad Lok Sabha constituency have appeared days after media reports surfaced claiming that Robert Vadra has hinted at joining politics, a month after wife Priyanka Vadra officially joined the Congress party. In a Facebook post, Robert Vadra hinted at it stating he “should dedicate a larger role in serving the people.” Vadra wishes to grace politics and the sycophancy starts right away.
Robert Vadra in his Facebook post, wrote, “The years n months that I spent campaigning n working in different parts of the country, but mainly in UP, gave me a feeling to do more for the people n make smaller changes possible by me, in their areas n when they got to know me, the genuine love, affection n respect I earned was humbling.”
He went on to add, “All these years of experience n learning cannot be just wasted and should be put to better use. Once all these accusations n allegations are over, I feel I should dedicate a larger role in serving the people.”
When CNN-News 18 questioned Robert about his intention to take the political plunge, he said, “I don’t have to be in politics to help the people of the country, but if by joining I can make a larger difference, then why not? But the people will decide.”
When ANI asked Vadra, if he wants to join politics and contest polls, he said, “First, I need to absolve from baseless accusations & allegations. But yes, I will start working on it. There is no hurry. People need to feel that I can make a change… All in time.”

Earlier, in 2012, Robert also expressed his desire of joining the active politics by saying, “If people will wish that, then I will definitely come.” However, Priyanka soon quickly ended the speculation and urged that reporters have manufactured this news by asking him a twisted question.
By practising and promoting dynasty politics, Congress is only contributing towards its growing irrelevance. The lack of meritocracy and pervasiveness of dynasty politics in Congress party will definitely harm its electoral prospects in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
