After targeting and maligning, the Supreme Court, the Election Commission, and other prominent institutions Rahul Gandhi has now turned his guns toward the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG). In connection with the Rafale deal row, the Congress President was hoping for an adverse CAG report on the Modi government, but when things didn’t go as expected and CAG gave a clean-chit to the deal, Rahul Gandhi lashed out against the watchdog constitutional body.
Today, in the Lok Sabha, the Congress party went over its rhetoric of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe in the Rafale deal row. Demanding for criminal proceedings against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president alleged that PM Modi acted as the middleman for the industrialist Anil Ambani in the defence deal for the purchase of Rafale fighter jets.
Citing a report of The Indian Express as source, Rahul Gandhi further claimed that Anil Ambani had met top French Defence officials just a few weeks ahead of PM Modi’s France visit in April 2015. Modi government tabled the CAG report on the defence deal today. In his brazen attack against PM modi and the BJP, Rahul brought CAG in mid as well. In his utter arrogance, Rahul Gandhi rubbished the CAG report and termed it as the “Chowkidaar Auditor General” report.
Last time, on the issue of JPC probe in the Rafale deal row, BJP MP Anurag Thakur took a jibe at Congress President, quoting the Supreme Court, and said the SC had looked into the matter and cleared the ‘pricing, procedure and the off-set clause’ to be transparent. In its verdict, the SC clearly mentioned that there was no commercial favoritism, he added. Prior to this, Anurag Thakur had given a privilege motion notice to the Secretary of Lok Sabha on the Rafale issue against Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress president is demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) based on nothing but his lies which have been thoroughly exposed. Even the Supreme Court (SC) has made it clear that the price does not need to be reviewed.
Despite being exposed multiple times, the Congress party has kept questioning the Rafale deal without offering any credible shreds of evidence. Various BJP leaders have time and again exposed the hollowness of the arguments by the Congress president Rahul Gandhi on the Rafale deal. Despite the brazen attack on the constitutional body, there seems to be no outrage of the ‘freedom of speech gang’ at all against the Gandhi scion.
