According to The New Indian Express report, there are speculations in the political and administrative circles of Uttar Pradesh of a possible meeting of PM Modi’s cabinet in Prayagraj any day after February 14. Kumbh Mela authorities have not confirmed this news, but they have not denied it.
The News Indian Express report claims that preparations for PM Modi’s possible meeting have commenced. PM Modi is likely to lay the foundation stone of proposed 600-km Ganga Expressway, which is being touted as ‘world’s longest expressway’. The expressway will connect the western border of Uttar Pradesh with the southeastern city of Prayagraj. The report further claims that PM Modi may convene the meeting of his cabinet on the banks of Sangam at Kumbh. If this meeting takes place then it would be another great honor to the largest Hindu gathering on the planet.
It is also being said that ahead of PM Modi’s expected visit to the largest Hindu gathering on the planet, BJP National President Amit Shah is likely to take a holy dip in the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati at the holy Sangam after Basant Panchami. According to The New Indian Express report, the BJP chief is likely to a dip along with the mahamnadelshwars of all 14 akharas at Kumbh and he would also meet the saints and seers to seek their blessings.
PM Modi will also visit his constituency Varanasi on February 19 on Magh Purnima and would inaugurate projects worth over Rs 2,000 crore there.
Earlier in the last month, the Yogi Adityanath government held a cabinet meeting at the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. A number of important decisions were also taken at the cabinet meeting. In the same, he announced that his cabinet has decided to make Ganga-Expressway, to connect Prayagraj with Western Uttar Pradesh. This will take 6,556 hectares of land, it will cost approximately Rs 36,000 crore. This shows the kind of importance that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attached to the Kumbh Mela. Interestingly, this was also for the first time that a cabinet meeting took place outside the Vidhan Bhavan, the state Assembly in Lucknow. This is bound to go down in the history of the state and even the country as a historic move. It clearly shows that the Uttar Pradesh government deeply and truly respects the largest faith-based congregation in the world, which also forms an intrinsic part of the state’s culture.
This Kumbh has seen many firsts in terms of participation of India’s leaders. The President, CM Yogi and now PM Modi is also likely to go to the Kumbh. A number of union cabinet ministers have already taken a holy dip in Ganga. This is symbolic of the fact that India has rejected the pseudo-secularism of the Nehruvian era.
Kumbh Mela forms an integral part of the country’s culture and it must be appreciated that the BJP government gave it the importance it deserved.
