Pulwama attack: Paytm donations reach Rs 10 crores for the CRPF welfare fund

In an even bigger terror attack than the Uri attack of 2016, a Jaish e Mohammed recruit rammed an IED explosives-laden vehicle into the 78-79 vehicles strong CRPF convoy in Pulwama, killing more than 40 CRPF personnel and injuring several others.

While the attacks have triggered a massive outrage in the nation, and most of the citizens are demanding punitive action against the perpetrators based in Pakistan, scores of citizens are also volunteering for all the efforts directed towards proving some sort of solace to the families of martyred jawans.

A well-known payment portal cum digital wallet, Paytm, launched a feature within its Android, as well as iOS apps that allows people to contribute whatever amount they deem worthy to the fund. To their own, as well as the netizens’ delight, the collections of the fund have crossed the figures of 10 crores, and is still increasing by leaps and bounds. This is confirmed by the site itself, as shown below:

This is not only heartening but also proves that Indian netizens are ready to contribute to the cause of the aggrieved soldiers’ any day. Ever since the Pulwama attack took place, people who visited the Bharat Ke Veer site increased so much that the site got swamped thrice in a single day, unable to handle the humongous site traffic.

For those unaware, Bharat Ke Veer, promoted and launched by the incumbent NDA government along with famous Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, is a mobile-based application that allows people to contribute to the cause of the armed forces in whichever way possible. Moreover, this is not the only medium that is being used very well by the netizens to fund for the cause of the CRPF martyrs.

Recently, Reliance Foundation has volunteered to finance the entire education of the children of the CRPF martyrs. Virender Sehwag has also volunteered for the same. Stars like Amitabh Bachchan have also announced to help the families of the martyrs, with the superstar ready to donate Rs. 5 lakhs each from his own account. The masses are also taking out large processions in support of the martyrs, vowing not to bow down until and unless the perpetrators of Pulwama terror attack are brought to justice immediately.

This is not all. Even the Modi government pulling out all stops to ensure that the aggrieved families of the Pulwama victims get support at this crucial juncture. From lifting the hearses to making sure that due compensation and government jobs for the families of these CRPF martyrs are processed, every individual is making sure that the CRPF martyrs’ aggrieved families get some sort of solace. We also thank Paytm for their brilliant moves and hope that people continue donating for the larger cause.
