Hitting back at Pakistan: Is India going the Israel way?

Pakistan, Israel, India

(PC: The Hindu)

To avenge the dastardly terror attack in Pulwama, according to several reports, IAF jets last night dropped payloads at Balakot in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. 12 Mirage 2000 jets took part in the operation that dropped 1000 Kg bombs on terror camps across LOC, completely destroying it. This also marked the beginning of a new chapter in the Indo-Pak relations. India has sent across a strong message. It has been made amply clear that India won’t let any Pakistani act of terrorism go unpunished. In fact, India is going to unleash hell and strike back in a disproportionate manner. If Pakistani terrorists attack Pulwama, Islamabad will feel the tremors when India hits back.

Until now, the Israeli defence forces were known for their ability and intent to strike back at their enemies in a brutal manner. Disproportionate punitive action has always been seen as synonymous with the Israeli defence forces. Whether it were the Operation Wrath of God, Bekka Valley shootout or assassination of PLO operative in Dubai, Israel has never shied away from going deep inside the enemy’s territory and showing them their place. Israel has given back to its enemy in equal, or in fact, excessive measure. Israel not only builds up its assets but also uses them when it needs to. It carries out both covert and overt operations in order to hit hard at the enemy. The way it has carried out assassination operations shows its ability to eliminate its enemies at will.

The precedent which Israel has been constantly setting has always been seen as an appropriate measure to tackle adventurism by enemy forces. One always wondered why India does not retaliate against Pakistan in a similar manner. Following the Israeli policy of inflicting heavy and disproportionate damage was always seen as the only method in order to tackle Pakistani extremism and terrorism. It seems that Pulwama attacks were the turning point in Indo-Pak relations.

Post the Pulwama attack, it had become clear that India will take up a new policy characterised by more vigour and aggression against Pakistan. India’s Pakistan policy reached a point of no return and this has been manifested by the destruction that India unleashed on the Pakistani terror camps right inside their territory. Till now, it was difficult to think of the Indian government using airstrikes in order to hit the Pakistanis. But times have changed, India is going the Israel way. Moreover, international opinion is heavily in India’s favour. The entire world understands that Pakistan has been testing India’s patience for far too long. And now India won’t hold back. For every attempt by Pakistan to attack India, India will hit back in a brutal manner shattering the terrorist country to the core.
