Even as Navjot Singh Sidhu faces severe criticism after his disgusting comments exonerating Pakistan for the Pulwama terror attack, Kapil Sharma has come out in Sidhu’s support. Sidhu has been repeatedly insisting that Pakistan cannot be blamed for the Pulwama attack. Even after massive outrage over his comments, he maintained, “Mere liye hamesha hi desh pehle tha (For me the country had always been first)… but I stand by what I said yesterday (Friday) and I cannot blame an entire nation for an act done by a few cowards…” He took this stand even though it has come to light that the Pakistan-based and backed terror organisation, Jaish e Mohammed (JeM) had carried out the dastardly attack.
It was reported that Sidhu was likely to be sacked from the Kapil Sharma show over his shameful comments. However, Sidhu denied such reports. At a time when Sidhu is facing massive backlash for his bizarre remarks, Sharma has defended him. Sharma reportedly stated that using trending hashtags like #boycottsidhu or #boycottkapilsharmashow would not help anyone and is only meant to divert attention from the real issues at hand. The comedian also said, “These are very small things, or can also be a part of propaganda. I feel banning someone or sacking Navjot Singh Sidhu from the show is not the solution. We need to look for a permanent solution.” Sharma added, “We are with the government but still, we need a permanent solution. The cowardly act in Pulwama that killed our soldiers shouldn’t be forgotten and the culprits should be punished.” Despite the backlash to his statement, Sidhu went on to send the tweet below mocking people’s grief.

It is rather disgusting how Sharma has further insulted the souls of the CRPF martyrs by supporting Sidhu on this issue. If someone sympathises with terror outfits and a country like Pakistan, then all such a person deserves is total boycott from the society in all walks of life and no one should have an issue if the demand for Sidhu’s sacking is being voiced in the society. Kapil Sharma defended Sidhu’s heinous remarks and also said that we need a permanent solution. However, the permanent solution is to expose people like Sidhu and boycott them. It is shameful how people like Sidhu and Sharma still fail to look at the larger picture. They are more interested in safeguarding their own interests rather than standing with the country at a critical juncture. The nation must show that issues like national security and respect for the armed forces comes before the entertainment industry and overrated comedians. Boycotting Sidhu should now be followed by boycotting Sharma.
