Modi govt hikes hardship allowance for CAPF personnel in sensitive areas

CAPF, Hardship Allowance, Modi Government

(PC: News Nation)

In a major boost to all the forces deployed under the ambit of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), the hardship allowance for the CAPFs deployed in sensitive areas shall be increased with immediate effect. This is extremely beneficial for those CAPF personnel, who are in deployed in areas like Jammu and Kashmir, or the Naxal infested states like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar etc.

According to a new order, as issued by the Modi government, the CAPFs deployed in sensitive areas shall receive an increased hardship allowance. This figure amounts to Rs. 25000 per month for the commissioned officers, while CAPFs under other ranks shall receive Rs. 17300 per month. Earlier these figures were Rs. 16900 per month for the officers and Rs. 9700 per month for the other ranks.

This is not all. The panel that made this decision also included those places, where Islamic terrorism has hit the CAPF combatants the hardest. The panel has included terror hotbeds like Budgam, Pulwama, Anantnag, Baramulla and Kupwara in the Kashmir section of the list for hardship allowance. Apart from that, the sensitive areas also include places like Kulgam, Shopian, Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban and Udhampur etc. on the list.

This is a major boost for the CAPF combatants, especially in the light of the Pulwama attack. Following a suicide explosion that martyred approximately 40 of our CRPF personnel, the Modi government had to take some hard steps in order to ensure the safety of anybody who came under the ambit of CAPF.

Recently, the Ministry of Home Affairs had also sanctioned the facility of air travel for all the jawans related to the CAPFs on the Delhi – Srinagar, Srinagar – Jammu & vice versa. Earlier this facility was sanctioned only till the rank of the Sub Inspector. To quote the press brief, as issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, “The decision will immediately benefit approximately 7,80,000 personnel of CAPFs in the ranks of Constable, Head Constable and ASI who were otherwise not eligible earlier. This includes journey on duty and journey on leave, i.e while going on leave from J&K to home and return.”

The order further stated, “This facility is in addition to the existing air courier services for CAPFs that have been steadily extended in all sectors by the MHA to help the jawans cut down on travel time during their journey to and fro from home on leave.”

We welcome the noble move of hiking the hardship allowance for all the personnel associated with the CAPF and appreciate the Modi government for the same. We hope that the perpetrators of Pulwama attack are brought to justice soon and nobody else has to suffer the way the families of Pulwama martyrs had to.
