Hugely disappointing AAP Chandigarh rally with hardly anyone in sight even on a Sunday

In a major setback for the AAP’s campaign in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, the party was not able to gather an adequate number of spectators in its Chandigarh rally, on January 24. The rally was proof of the Delhi CM Kejriwal’s diminished stature. Moreover, due to a poor turn out, Kejriwal was compelled to wind up his rally within a few minutes of starting the address. Shockingly, despite it being a Sunday, the Aam Aadmi Party was not able to congregate enough of an audience for its leader.

Looking at the missing ‘ocean of crowds’ Arvind Kejriwal was hoping for, he hurriedly concluded his address citing the reason that he has another rally scheduled in Haryana. Prior to that, Kejriwal delayed his address by one hour which was scheduled at 1:30 pm, due to the thin presence of spectators.

In his brief address, Arvind Kejriwal threw mud at the Bharatiya Janata Party MP (that he always does) from Chandigarh Kirron Kher and said, “How often have you seen Kirron Kher in Chandigarh? She is a busy actress and lives in Mumbai. Can you list even a single development work done by her?”

However, this shows only the desperation of the ‘ideal’ Chief Minister. Prior to that, Kejriwal stated he would sit on a hunger strike till death for the statehood status of Delhi. Speaking in the Delhi Assembly, Kejriwal stated that democracy is long due in the national capital as Delhi is still not been granted complete statehood. “Public votes and selects a government, but the government has no power. So we’re starting a movement on March 1 and I’ll sit on indefinite fast for the full statehood of Delhi,” he said. 

However, it seems that he came up with a full-fledged plan this time. The model code of conduct for the 2019 General Elections will kick in soon and under the provisions of the code, such conducts are proscribed, providing Kejriwal with a face-saving tactic to end the fasting drama. 

Arvind Kejriwal’s behavior has made the Aam Aadmi Party a political pariah. His verbal lapses and dictatorial attitude is disliked by all and as a result of this, AAP members seem to be leaving the party and looking for better options ahead of the 2019 general elections. AAP and Arvind Kejriwal’s popularity is declining not just in Delhi but also in Punjab where it enjoys some presence. AAP’s Punjab state unit is in shambles, with the entire unit almost in rebellion mode. Arvind Kejriwal seems to be the biggest enemy of his own party. Animosity between the Punjab AAP unit and the central unit is rising day by day.

Senior leaders of the party are leaving AAP and joining other parties. AAP is on the verge of extinction in the state and it might not be an exaggeration to say that very soon AAP and Arvind Kejriwal will recede into oblivion.
