Subramanian Swamy lambasts Naseeruddin Shah for his rants on ‘intolerance’

The BJP’s firebrand leader Subramanian Swamy reacted strongly to the latest controversy sparked by actor Naseeruddin Shah. The veteran actor took the nation by storm when he cried intolerance in the wake of the Bulandshahr incident. Reacting to this, Subramanian Swamy said, “There are many more to come like Naseeruddin Shah in the near future, who would try to influence people but they all will fail.”

Subramanian Swamy added, “I do not give any importance to whosoever he is but the fact that international organisations are intervening in our domestic election.” Swamy went on to add, “The poll of national thinking is the BJP. Because of that fact they do not want us to come in power again. Even the loss in the three states the margin was so narrow. With just a little more care and focus on topics we could have won.”

Earlier, also Subramanian Swamy had lambasted Naseeruddin Shah for his illogical rants and cries. For those unaware, Naseeruddin Shah attempted to invoke the cringefest of ‘Intolerance’ once again as he expressed fear for his children in today’s India. To quote the address, “I feel worried about my children. They do not have a religion. I had received a religious education as a child. Ratna (his wife who is a Hindu) belongs to a liberal household, so she had received none. I feel anxious for my children because tomorrow if a mob surrounds them and asks “are you a Hindu or a Muslim”, they will have no answer. It worries me because I don’t see the situation improving anytime soon.”

Responding to this Subramanian Swamy had said, “If he (Naseeruddin Shah) is really scared then we will give him passport but first he should tell us that where he actually wants to go. We’ll also give him permit ticket for the same and if he’s frightened then he doesn’t deserve to live in this nation as we don’t need cowards in our country.”

In 2017, Naseeruddin Shah authored an article in which he had claimed that the current situation was such that Muslims, as a whole, were being suspected of being ‘unpatriotic’, because of the sins committed by a ‘few’. Responding to this Subramanian Swamy had told ANI, “It happens not only in India, but across the whole world. India is, in fact, the most accommodative. These actors should stop making the political statements because they don’t understand anything and create more bad blood. In fact, Shah must confidently declare that those who spread terrorism in India are ‘Kafirs’.”

Naseeruddin Shah is a habitual offender. Before elections, he usually plays the victim card but takes a complete 180-degree turn after elections get over. As pointed out in an article of tfipost.com, when 2014 elections were drawing close, a website named Pheku.in was launched in a bid to expose the ‘reality’ of the then PM candidate, Narendra Modi. However, when he recently received brickbats for his comments on the minorities feeling scared in India, Naseeruddin Shah tried to evoke sympathy by declaring himself as an ex-supporter of PM Modi, as he said, “I had great faith in 2014 when he ascended to power. I won’t go so far as to say that my faith has been shaken. I still look forward to the future. I have no regrets about saying what I said. I do not backtrack at all.”

He played sham victim card during Bihar elections also.

Naseeruddin Shah also led an anti Modi campaign from behind the scenes, as some of the sponsors of the website mentioned also wrote open letters to the masses, including celebrities like Zoya Akhtar, Imtiaz Ali, Aditi Rao Hydari, Anjum Rajabali, Vishal Bhardwaj, Nandita Das etc., which appealed to them to vote for anybody but Modi. As such, this actor has been a repeat offender when it has come to shamelessly peddling lies against BJP or PM Modi.
