PM Modi meets the winners of Pradhan Mantri Bal Puraskar 2019

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the winners of Pradhan Mantri Bal Puraskar 2019. In the event held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Ram Nath Kovind presented the Bal Shakti Puraskar in New Delhi after which PM Modi interacted with little champions on Thursday. The Winners were excited to meet the PM. They exchanged their views in detail and told him about their achievements in their respective fields. This year, the award was given to 26 shortlisted awardees including one joint award for National Child Award (now renamed as Bal Shakti Puraskar) under the category of innovation, scholastic, sports, arts & culture, social service and bravery. A total of 783 applications were received for the Baal Shakti Puruskar this year. The National Selection Committee also finalized the names of 2 individuals and 3 institutions for Bal Kalyan Puraskar. Later the Prime Minister appreciated and congratulated the award winners for their achievements.

Later on, PM shared the pictures of the winners on his Twitter account with heartwarming descriptions. A six years old girl, Eiha Dixit got special congratulations from the PM AS HE tweeted, “Youngsters like Eiha Dixit indicate that the Yuva Shakti of India will do outstanding things. She celebrated her 6th birthday by planting record 1008 saplings! She is extremely passionate about .mitigating climate change. Proud that she has been conferred the Bal Shakti Puraskar”. The six-year-old from Meerut became the youngest among all the award recipients for her contribution towards the environment. Eiha till now has planted 500 samplings by herself.

Further, in a series of tweets, PM Modi congratulated other winners of the award which include ace mathematician Nishant Dhankhar, who has won many accolades both at national and international levels. Nishant’s project on Szemeredi’s theorem has been appreciated by the International schools. Among the winners, there were several young Olympians like Anish from Haryana. He is an international gold medalist who came into limelight after the Commonwealth Games which were held in Gold Coast.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that awards offer an opportunity for recognition of talented children, and serve as inspiration for others like them. Later on the same day, the Prime Minister urged the remarkably gifted children to stay connected with their roots and Mother Nature. He shared some of the anecdotes of his life as well in order to impart wisdom to the young minds.
