Often we’ve heard the Indian intellectuals taking pride in the secularism of India. A layman’s version of secularism simply means treating every community impartially. However, our Indian version of secularism has a curious twist, where minorities are appeased ad nauseam at the cost of the identity of the majority community.
It is no rocket science to understand how Hinduphobic our Indian intellectuals and pseudo secular politicians are. In order to look politically correct, they even went to the extent of creating an entire hoax of ‘Saffron Terror’ out of nowhere. Adding another feather to their notorious cap, the Telangana government issued a dictatorial order of banning the kite flying during the holy festival of Makar Sankranti.
In his recent order, Police Commissioner of Hyderabad, Mr. Anjani Kumar issued the following:-
“In order to maintain law and order, peace and tranquility and to prevent incidents of breach of peace and accident that are likely to occur, kite-flying is regulated during the celebration of Sankranti festival in the Hyderabad city from January 14-15.”
So according to the police commissioner of Hyderabad, children or young adults cannot fly kites during the holy Makar Sankranti festival, because it would breach the law and order and ‘disturb the peace and tranquility of the region’. Looks like the NGO activism against every Sanatan custom has now taken a really ugly turn.
The reason behind this absurd diktat is probably the ‘manjha’ or the string that is used to fly the kite. Since the indigenous ones are a bit ‘costly’, people prefer the Chinese substitutes, which are created by coating the fibre with minute glass shards.
The Chinese ‘manjha’ is quite lethal and has sometimes resulted in the death of people, as well as the injury of birds. However, instead of ensuring that the dangerous ‘manjha’ is pulled off the sleeves, the Hyderabad police has banned the kite festival altogether. It is like amputating the entire leg for a minor scratch on the toe.
Though absurd, as well as atrocious, this is not the first time that an administrative unit has shown immense hatred for the Sanatan customs. We all know how inhumane has the current Kerala government been towards the devotees of Swami Ayyappa of the Sabarimala shrine, in their nefarious bid to desecrate the temple premises. They succeeded after two women crept into the shrine through back doors, clad in veiled attire, and disguised as transgenders.
Besides, the hatred for Sanatan customs is just not limited to kite flying on Sankranti festival. For the last three to four years, the seasonal environmentalists have launched a vicious campaign against Diwali, with them partially succeeding in getting the firecrackers banned.
When massive uproar against the decision in Delhi NCR led to rampant violations, the then bench of Supreme Court relented but issued another absurd order of bursting crackers in a limited timeframe. In fact, in order to implement the order, police even began arresting people who busted firecrackers before Diwali. This led to massive outrage, and the entire nation flouted the norms, openly defying the order by leaps and bounds.
To be honest, the left-liberal intelligentsia, who is hell-bent on demonizing every custom of Sanatan Dharma, wants to impose their ideology throughout the nation. The recent example of getting the kite flying banned in Hyderabad is a testament to their vicious contempt of Hinduism. However, the left liberals, especially the seasonal environmentalists shouldn’t forget that if driven to the wall, the normally peaceful devotees are capable of bouncing back with brute force, as in the case of the protests for reinstating Jallikattu. The game is on now.
